Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant in real life.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up.

People don't walk around in full suits of adamantite armor and cast spells in RL either. I am not sure drawing a RL comparison is meaningful here.

It is not a game breaking issue, but it is a bit silly that horses are more durable than GM characters.

Have you ever tried to stab a horse to death?

Actually this is something that does have a real life comparison in charging cavalry causing infantry to form combat squares to effectively fight the cavalry. Horses are not stupid as being stabbed by bayonets will kill them. Edged weapons also inflict a ridiculous amount of force upon whatever they strike. If we're going to bring real life into the equation I can guarantee you that a strike by an edged weapon is going to cause grievous harm to whatever it strikes (if it is unarmored). I would not be surprised if it is taken down by a single blow. Horses are not even all that difficult to kill as it is. So let's just leave real life out of this.

As for the hps of storebought pets, they're way out of line.

I don't think all pets are like this. I think the main issue is the warhorses from Seawatch, which become even more buff once they're turned into armored warhorses.

The log snippet below is only one log, but it is representative of what it takes to kill imperial warhorses and armored warhorses. At the time, we were raiding Losache Keep (the battle where Alaric's amulet was shattered) and my character had Herculean strength, high level frenzy and was using a highly enchanted two-handed straight dagger.

I cut out the rounds in between the circles. A similarly buffed circle to Alaric did 33% through sanctuary.

Draw your own conclusions:

Code:
A skinny male human fades into existence.
A skinny male human's circle stab decimates an armored imperial warhorse.

[HP: 89%] [ME: 32%] [PE: 94%]
>
A skinny male human's circle stab MUTILATES an armored imperial warhorse!
Trinton utters the words, 'gszabra ay yauhp'.
A bright spear of light appears in Trinton's hand!
Trinton's faithful spear sails wide, but a bestial male human still cringes in pain.

[HP: 86%] [ME: 32%] [PE: 94%]
>
A skinny male human's circle stab DISMEMBERS an armored imperial warhorse!

A skinny male human's circle stab does UNSPEAKABLE THINGS to an armored imperial warhorse!
An armored imperial warhorse is DEAD!!
You hear an armored imperial warhorse's death cry.
A skinny male human junks a corpse of an armored imperial warhorse.

We added new building guidelines for pets last year. But it looks like some pets got missed. I can see with certainty that the imperial warhorses were not updated and am doing this right now. If you suspect other pets may not have been updated, please point them out here.

Thanks to Finney for said anecdotal evidence.

Anecdotal evidence is not necessarily incorrect or inaccurate - it simply means there is not a large enough sample to be conclusive. However, I am pretty certain Dulrik can conclusively state that these pets had too many HP, which is exactly what he did.

Edoras, a log snippet isn't anecdotal evidence, it's actual evidence. Anecdotal evidence would be Finney stomping into the thread saying "hey!!! that's not fair! It took me like five circle stabs to kill a horse this one time! Horses should have less hpz so I can kill them and it will be beneficial to my char!!"

Plus I'm sure Dulrik tested it after he saw the log snippet here. Why you so snippy lately? And you never complain about anything that might benefit team darkie, only people you might have to fight!

What do you think this word means? Because I do not think it means what you think it means.

Anecdotal evidence is precisely what Finney presented. A single, personal experience that may or may not (in this case, definitely did) reinforce the point at hand. It's the "opposite" of scientific evidence in that it could be an outlier and has not been subjected to rigorous retesting or proof, but it's evidence nonetheless.

My question is: why did everyone read that post as snippy? I honestly read it as "Thanks, Finney, for providing anecdotal evidence that caused Dulrik to reevaluate his position."

Maybe if you guys spent less time reading into other peoples' words you might realize that they don't hate you as much as you seem to want?

Also, bring it.
