Who the heck would need to take a class on how to quaff a vial? That's like saying that there should be a chance that whenever you drink from your waterskin you should instead just empty it out onto the ground. And also stab yourself.

I'm not sure what this is, but I'm pretty sure we agree. All I said is that you don't need to train to do it, and that's what makes quaffing/brewing on a different field than all other magical items (besides edibles).

I think you missed the point. The point is that there's no need to learn how to quaff, it simply.... is. So everyone has access to it. On the other hand, zapping, reciting and brandishing takes training of some kind.

It stands to reason that things that higher flexibility = lower power.

They're all pretty much amateur level skills.

That not everyone gets, and that have a level requirement depending on the item you want to use.

Splitting my post between relevant conversations - I'll put more potion stuff here.

One half-baked idea for potions: implement a cap for liquid as for food. Treat vials like liquids for quaffing - if you just downed 3 gallons of magical liquid and/or water, your [REDACTED] ain't gonna have room for another drop.

A more easily implemented idea: change the concept of potions and drastically increase the weight of them - needs super thick glass or some stupid made up BS, maybe imbuing magic to a liquid makes that liquid denser than lead or something, to contain the magic without it leaking.

Another more easily implemented idea: greatly decreased decay timers on vials. Give them an extremely short shelf-life. Hard mode implementation: drastically increase quaff lag. Harder mode implementation: level of vial decreases over time once brewed. Can go from level 35 to level 10, and after time become ineffective and lose the enchantment (vial remains, but has nothing brewed on it),

Vials actually used to evaporate much more often, and I and the entire playerbase almost unanimously agreed that it needed fixing. It's not fun to spent time grinding for vials and brewing them only to have them evaporate or be useless.
