Please please please whatever you do, delay the "take away casting from tribunal NPCs" thing as long as possible. Maybe you could put it on the "bard" timeline? That'd be great.

I agree that we need to get the game away from "who has the most buffs" via NPC/NPC warz and more towards PvP again.

The fixes people are imagining aren't likely the ones Dulrik is setting out to do. I do support the removed spells by tribunal NPCs, but only because the fix is so cool. I won't spoil the surprise. It does address many of the issues people see with tribunals in general. I only posted to agree that making bounty NPC coffer drainage obsolete was a good idea. Fighting named NPCs in capital cities is a much better trade.

I guess we'll just have to see it, but I am worried it's going to be a massive nerf to their utility, variety of tactics, and power balance. Right now a tribunal is great for getting access to some of the spells like shrink/enlarge when sorcerors aren't around (pretty frequent), giving lots of different battle tactics as options to players of various classes, and buffing people up.

So I maintain my plea for the bard timeline(tm).

It's already at bard timeline stage, since I intended to have the change ready to go in concurrent with enchant changes, then Christmas, then New Years, and still haven't had time to work on them.

Sweet. So now we just need another two years or so and we're set.

Hmmm. Weren't you the one that was a fan of combining Cabal/Tribs? Did I spoil it? :drunk:

An important note is that at the moment, you can "lose" bounty NPCs by running out of coin, but you can't "lose" your named NPCs. Making it so that you need coin to spawn the high-level NPCs instead of spawning bounty NPCs means that once you run out of coin, you don't have the named NPCs anymore, and that would be a bigger detriment in an actual engagement.

I didn't mean for that to be implicit in my idea. I think we could come up with a more creative consequence for a tribunal's coffers getting drained.

I read the same thing in your idea, hence my opposition.

Since this is already a thread about Tribunal Tweaks I would like to derail it. Slightly.

Can tribunal caster NPCs somehow be coded to offer the output of their spells to the PC that ordered them to cast it? I'm talking specifically about enchanting, consecrating, locating and know alignment.

I'm not sure what that means, but in the the future tribunals will not be able to order any spells cast from NPCs. So I'm not going to make any tweaks on an existing system that is slated to go away.
