Edoras, you sound like a whiny toddler. Stop it. Who s/he is and who s/he played are wholly irrelevant to this discussion.
If someone creates an account solely to whine about how imbalanced a specific class is, then their opinion should be judged partially on the experience behind it. The only actual character Styles has quoted in his "necros are way too OP" argument is Zerel, and Zerel wasn't all that successful as a necro. The only necros that I recall which have been played successfully since the last nerf are Zerel, Xunux, Kythroghalas, Surrit and Nivienne.
Baldric's merc beat the mess out of Zerel quite a few times, my one fight with Xunux on my gnome merc (I had one priest backing me up) was a cakewalk as I never went below 80% and Xunux almost died.
My gnome hammer merc fought Kythroghalas + guard NPC + undead army SOLO and Kythroghalas ended up in jail.
Nivienne just got smacked down yesterday by Ardith because she got 2 rounded by BoG.
Surrit most certainly can't run around the mud and just kill whoever he wants with no risk whatsoever, despite what Jerinx may lead people to believe. Surrit has died and been driven away a great deal of times, and there are certain builds that I cannot engage against on their home turf except in very specific circumstances.
Since the last nerfs to necros, there's been a lot of time, and not a lot of successful necros. Styles might say that's just because no one has played them properly. I would say that this is true because even though necros are more powerful in most circumstances than any other solo class, they are powerful in offense only, and when going against their natural enemies (of which there are a million of) they can be handled easily enough when played against correctly.
So yes, Styles' identity does matter. If Baldric were to tell me that necros are way too powerful and need to be nerfed, then I'd be glad to listen to his opinion on the matter. However, if a crazed man with his pants on his head approached me on the street and said the same thing, I wouldn't be very inclined to believe him, and would be more inclined to just keep on walking regardless of how fervent he was. There's a point where the theorycrafting needs experience to be valid, and I've had experience both as a necro and fighting against necros, and I am telling you that they're totally fine except in the area of CRS. It's fun to think of having 4 barbarian controls at your beck and call, but it isn't fun when you realize that if you don't sleep on the tick that you drain mana like it's going out of style, and that a paladin can kill all 4 of those controls in 2 rounds with BoG, or that any priest can remove compulsion/cancel them and turn them against you, and that a properly buffed PC (Or even NPC) is going to take a whole lot longer than all that time to die to them. It's fun to think of having 8 barbarian wraiths to order all bash, but it isn't quite as fun when you realize that a hammer of Light warrior is going to kill one of those wraiths every single round, or that two GM holy words will kill each and every one of them. Honestly, Surrit is one of the characters that I have enjoyed PvPing with the least, because it isn't quite as enjoyable entering into a fight banking on your enemies playing against you poorly.
