I shouldn't have to rely on a sorc spell (haste) to use my axe efficitently. I really think you all are just so used to tweaking that you have no comprhension that I have only played this game for a year.

My armor, my affect and my status's should NOT matter when using an axe

If you're answer is to tweak my character to use an axe, then your answer is unnacceptable. So please stop posting here. I've already recieved many pms and seen the posts here that are saying I need to use buff spells.

I just want to be able to use my axe effectivly in battle, without being hasted, giant strength, or berserk even.

The damage bonus for cleaving is not good enough to make up for two attack hits a round.

I am going to start crying if this continues much longer... If you want to deal reliable damage without buffs at all... Then roll a f..... sorc and spam magic missile... If you want to do it with your barb...then wield a [REDACTED] battlespear... and then put on your greataxe, fury, haste up and use that to own in Pvp... Now end this rant please.....

SK Character: Galstan/Cyril/Ulrich/Elar
In D&D a greataxe will do 1d12 damage which is almost as good at a greatsword with 2d6. Both weapons critical at x3. In SK I think they do comparable damage but axes are just too slow? Is that what the issue is?

Are axes slower than greatswords? And what axes are we talking about?

A greataxe SHOULD be really slow and not very accurate but when it does hit BAM! That just seems to make sense for me.

Another issue I see here is the fact that you want something changed because you like it cosmetically for your character. Truth be told if you want to RP your char sometimes you have to take the mechanical consequences for it. Sometimes you can have an uber killing machine and exactly what you want. If you want to be a pk god you have to take advantage of what's available in the game and make it work for you. Some weapons are better than others, just like in real life.

Cept in SK greataxe is like the sixth most accurate weapon in the game, and the most damaging entirely...

There is no proof of what your saying. Just the reiteration of the same thing. The greataxe and battle-axe is not a good as the lot of you are making it out to be. While I may be bringing this up based on a my distaste that my character can't use an axe efficiently. I seriously doubt this is as simple as wanting a cosmetic change for my character alone.

I mean come on, is this where tactics and roleplay collide or is this where the tsunami sized tidal waves of tactics demolishes roleplay. The axe is not up to par. Cosmetic or not, it's pretty silly that your disagreeing with me that it's ridiculous to want my barb to use an axe efficiently without the use of a bunch of magic buffs. This thread isn't pointless. It has a good point. It's just getting lost in the reiteration of the same thing you guys keep saying over and over again. Repeat it all you want, it doesn't make it true.

You might not have proof, but we do. As you've said we have played this game much longer then you have and we know for a fact that the great axe is the single most damaging weapon in the game, and one of the most accurate. Its really not that hard to figure out, all you have to do is compare the great axe to ANY OTHER weapon in the game and you'll see that its true.

On a side note, you get to use weapons better as you get along in level, level 40 being the big jump I believe where you pretty much get an extra attack with any weapon, although I'm not quite sure about that.

Also haste does not require you to find a sorcerer there are tons and tons of herbs, pills, potions and anything else you can think of that will give you it. Most of them are not in some "twinked out" location but right in the middle of cities.

Well while it may be more lethal. It is slower. Which has less damage output. Because the faster two handed sword put out more damage a round rather than per hit.

That's my whole point. Swords own axes. It's not fair. And no, it's not like in real life, because I would own you with an axe against your sword in real life.

All these circumstances you are giving me to own in pk, I would get owned if i was using an axe and the other person was using a sword. A one handed axe is about as fast a a two-handed sword. That's dumb. Hasted furried buffed sword barb beats hasted furried buffed axe barb. Give me a fair common circumstance where it doesn't.

You're not changing the fact that axes suck by bitching at me.

[edit] This game gives unexperience players the shaft, and that is why your average of 15 on the mud list.

Boots, it just comes down to this. You either suck at pk, char building or both. Don't take it as a flame either. I SUCK at pk. I am better than I used to be, but I am still light years from the Slayne's of SK. Some people are just not that good at certain aspects of the game. From what everyone has been saying, and since I have seen axes used effectively, I just think you need to learn how to build a char/pk better.
