It would probably be quite impossible to jaunt to a person from the Empire to Exile just because of the way the summon code works. I'd fully expect it to work under summon/gate rules.

Unless they're dumb and have auto summon off it'd be impossible to jaunt straight to them from Menegroth to Exile.

Now if you're in the same city though...

There's also the thing that you can't use this in areas that don't allow transport, so an area like the wastelands would also completely neuter the skill's usefulness.

While it could theoretically be used for PvP (and lead to awesome city-wide ninja battles), I think the best use of it would just to be straight up transportation/escape.

From how things are now.. I assumed rogue would be the mirror for a ninja and swashes were to a samurai.

rogues are thieves and backstabbing [REDACTED].

swashbucklers are pirates.

the closest to the samurai we have is the hellion

I really like the whole idea. Good work there, Cyra.

Well, I think I've got the idea pretty well fleshed out with the help of others.

Basically the skill list goes from basic skills and cheap tricks that most people can use to actual ninjutsu abilities that will sap mana and move when used.

Player added info:

apply poison - this has been wanted for years. However, I think about it now and it seems rather clumsy in practice. Perhaps if it were an automatic skill that added a (small) chance of the ninja having added poison to his weapon when he strikes or throws it to fight dirty like a ninja should.

lightning reflexes - adapted from chemhound's original idea. ninjas aren't made out of speed, speed is made out of ninjas. They should be the quickest class in the game. Period. And their training should lend them some extraordinary abilities.

throw - With the new PE packages this skill just isn't that great for other classes anymore, as at the level it really matters the most, it completely drains all moves in a matter of seconds. Easily adaptable to ninjas as they like to throw anything that isn't nailed down. On a side note, throwing dagger should just be renamed kunai. Some (bigger) damage multiplier should be added to this skill. I ignored the cries for some cleave type skill because this *is* supposed to be the cleave type skill. A big damage attack that the ninja can use to open up combat. May or may not be poisoned: hazardous attack, use with caution.

first strike - I dunno if this is actually codeable or if it is if it would be some kind of nightmare, but it is a totally awesome idea. Stolen from Chemhound when he made his lightning reflexes idea.

image - This is probably the most staple and redundant ninja skill ever published. No ninja leaves home without the ability to make copies of himself.

scroll - This is another common ninja item. Might overweigh them though.

wear hood - This was actually a joke, but I can see it happening. It could just conceal the identity of the ninja entirely if turned on, a la Dulrik's idea to play cloak and hoods with cabals a while back.

jaunt - This is a totally awesome ninja ability, ninjas seem to come out of nowhere. The summon code does kind of shut down a lot of the abuse that could be done with it, and there are areas that you just can't transport into. It's also not random like a teleport or rift so you can't end up in some obscure place like a recycled room or whatever else. This is how ninja transport themselves, they just poof in a puff of smoke and disappear and then reappear elsewhere. I think it's a rather advanced technique though so it should be about mentor status.

smoke - instead of carrying around smokebombs, this should just be a ninjutsu technique ninjas use to blind opponents. It's awesome but also very powerful. It's just a group affecting blindness. Some people may not be affected though.

Regarding First Strike. What happens when, say, three ninjas on various sides of combat are all engaged at once? Is there a seperate initiative check and assignation done by the ninjas to see which of them actually strikes first, even if all the ninjas will strike before the other classes?

now all we have to do is get Dulrik to put down the cheezits and get off his [REDACTED] and put them in.

We may need real ninja's for this mission.

They play rock, paper, scissors to determine battle order.
