I think we've entered official nerdhood when we're arguing over what a Giant would and would not really be able to wield.

That being said, there's no way a Giant could wield a 120lb axe! Hold it, sure. Use it as a weapon? Think about how strong his wrists would have to be.

Giants can pick up trees and swing them around like clubs but they can't wield 120 lb axe?

Wow...the logic of this thread fails me....

I never knew they could pick up trees and swing them around like clubs.

Are we even playing the same game?

Overall, an elder male giant is in excellent condition.

An elder male giant is using:

<both hands> a huge tree trunk (brand new)

I can't believe I'm entering this dialogue.

But what huge tree trunk do you know that weighs 575 pounds or less (the max carrying capacity for a giant in SK)?

That NPC is carrying around more like a sapling than a huge tree trunk. Or maybe a branch.

lol. jhorleb is the last person I expected to show up in this thread!

But seriously, a huge tree trunk?! This is clearly just a builder's error.

Clearly no one has ever attended a Gaelic festival: http://www.learnnc.org/lp/media/uploads ... r_toss.jpg

But seriously, if we try to apply real world physics, everything in the game would break down. How do you fit a pole-mace into your cloak? In my imagination, ogres and giants always wield tree trunks.

A huge tree trunk lies uprooted here.
This club is a huge-sized mace made of wood.

...

You utter the words, 'uoculoihuyl'.
This is a huge tree trunk, a huge wood weapon, weighing approximately 40
lbs. The weapon is a two-handed club. It is of superior quality and is
worth approximately 200 silver. It bears an enchantment to greatly increase
weapon damage.

That's right, your freaking greataxe weighs THREE TIMES as much as a tree trunk.

It probably has crappier starting enchantments too.

Suck on that.

*rolls a tree-trunk spec'ed merc.*

Maybe my next build should be weight-lifting wrist guards like the ones people use in the gym.
A set of black wrist staps lay here.
<worn on wrist> A black weight-lifting wrist strap
+10 str
-7 int

Next I will make a back support brace like the guys at Lowes wear.
+5 dex
+5 Str
-4 Cha

I have also mused over real world vs SK on a few ocassions. A few other unlikely imbalances that have not been brought up (but make me laugh):
-Male vs Female: A male of any race should have a greater strength than the female of the race.
-A male should swing harder and do more damage than a female of the race, however the female race should have a greater kick strength and also have a groin attack bonus against a male (except against centaurs).
-For one week out of every month, a woman gets a fury-like bonus.
- Dragging option: You should be able to drag items/corpses into another room. While you may not be able to pick up a body, you may likely be able to dig in your heels and drag it. It should cost 33% more PE than normal walking and do a strength check. If the players overall strength is half as much as that of the item/body than you can drag it.
-A kicking giant has a greater chance to make your head explode in one shot. They should also get a stomping skill against any small race.
-Everyone becomes septic. No one gets rid of their high protein diets or urinates all of that water/booze/juice. You die.
-Age vs fighting: Picture an 87 year old human holding a broad sword. Random chances of pelvis fractures, broken wrists and having to use a cane. If a senior citizen falls due to bash or trip, there should be a chance that they do not get back up (it acts like a never-ending prone unless they are healed).
-Age vs being awake: Once a race hits 3/4 of their life span, they should have a chance of randomly falling asleep.
</foolishness>
PS: Dulrik really is racist against giants and so is the rest of the immstaff.
