That's not a training giant, D, that's a "Walk west out of Menegroth's gate and take one step" spawning NPC - that's my only point here. You can't expect people with well-defined hp pools are the only ones walking out of the gates of starting cities.

If its true that NPCs can throw spears while blind and/or bashed I suggest this be fixed. Training necromancers are hit hard by this change (and to some degree, hellions), as they depend on allied NPCs to tank damage while they cast from back ranks. My proposed change would increase the utility of blindness while training, rewarding a more tactical fight.

Dear Dulrik/Achernar/whoever:

Okay, so this is a feature that 99.9% of the playerbase feels a need to remove or change. I've yet to see any positive feedback come from this other than IMMs saying "hahaha you'll never make it to GM! enjoy getting gank-raped by enemies AND NPCs now!"

So you want lowbie cloth people dependent on pets to get owned because they would get killed in the front row otherwise.

Fine.

Can you at least make it where groups don't throw a billion spears at you each round?

Or where low level NPCs don't toss boulders? Because that seems a bit much, even for NPCs. And if the point is to make the NPCs seem more realistic, wtf are the boulders/daggers/spears coming from in the first place? The rest of us have to go through the process of purchasing them and finding them throughout the realms, and we certainly don't have an endless supply.

But yeah, it's great that you're trying to make the game that much more enjoyable.

I know you won't remove the feature entirely, but I don't understand why you're so unwilling to compromise in regards to NPCs that lowbies generally train with and the amount of damage that can be done by grouped NPCs. This is raping lowbies, and you've probably been sent several logs as proof. Is this really what you want?

First of all, you are being hysterical. NPCs don't throw "a billion spears at you each round" even if they are in a group. In fact, an NPC can throw no more than one spear per round, when they do at all, which is not even half of the time. Being behind a pet is still protecting you from the other 1-3 attacks per round each NPC would normally do, so it is still an advantage.

Just double-checked my email. Zero communications of any kind from players, much less logs about this change. Don't assume that just because a relatively few people are at full volume in here that it means your viewpoint is universally supported. Besides, who said I'm not willing to compromise? We ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tweak things after a code update. If this surprises you, you've never paid attention to a code update before. I've also agreed elsewhere that some things are bugs.

I'm not at full volume - I'm only at 8. And I have no issues with throwing things aside from the boulders - which I've already donated a snippet of. The fights don't last long enough for it to happen to me more than once in a a fight - I'm just pointing out that newbie fights - like the other snipped posted, aren't going to be so quick and clean.

Ouch, wasn't trying to put off I hated it or something like that, I was pointing that out.. as something that blew my mind. I don't think it's bad idea at all. Maybe extreme in some cases, but not a bad idea. It is odd though.
