It was only useful in pve and completely useless in pvp. Now it's useless in both.

That spell seemed like its only use was to plevel, maybe NPCs need intelligence that allows them to not just stand in the fire and burn to death?

I remember hearing about a certain cabal spell and WoF being used as a trap that was hilarious. I think it might have gotten a kill even.

It did get kills, on the aggressors. The aggressors being those that laid the trap, obviously.
