How about giving charmed characters 25% wimpy, and having the spell break on auto-flee? Having a new best friend shouldn't mean giving your life for a hopeless cause.

Sounds like the best idea I've heard so far.

What ever happened to just taking away the spell when people were being butt holes with it?

Why change a whole spell around just because of the actions of a few?

I approve of that solution.

People will still scribe the spell, so ANYONE who has a scroll ability needs to grab some charm scrolls and go to town.

Because, it's so hard to find someone to bash the charmee?

Just to state the obvious, the spell was changed so that charmers could try to role play with their victim. Previously, the majority of victims refused to play along with role play, preferring constant attempts to escape. This consistent poor RP on the part of the victims has led us to the current state, where the options to resist have been eliminated, leaving charmed victims free to only role play with their captor.

So the charmers have gotten what they cried over for years - a chance to role play. Now I want to see it used for that reason. Charmers: feel free to send the immortals logs of the great RP this change has now enabled. Charmees: feel free to send the immortals logs of your character being charm raped despite your superlative RP. The changes I make will be determined by which type of log is dominating the conversation.

I'd modify the 25% wimpy slightly because that's likely too late to let anyone escape. Also, important to make sure this is not true with NPCs, or sorcerors get massively wimped for tanking ability.

Why not just give people additional save opportunities when:
*The charmee is first struck in battle
*A second enemy joins the attack
*Charmee reaches x% hp?
*Charmee's clothes are taken off? (not so sure about this one)
*Others?

Also, if it's not already so I think charmees should be immune to taunt. They're pretty much mindless automatons at that point, wouldn't respond to insults about their mother.
