Buying the rights to play a Xandy paladin might backfire, though. It could just be a case of...

Heh. Nightfall, gray? Pretty sure you guys are barking up the no way in hell tree.

I had a couple ideas which are in the vein of how LTs are currently spent in the hall of creation. How about using tokens to automatically advance the starting age of characters? That would have some (limited) tactical benefit for some builds and would make for some intriguing RP when, say, an aged elf popped out of nowhere. Plus, for folks who like ghosting, it'd be a quicker path to age-death. Players would need to be held accountable for a proper RP backstory as to why they are only just starting to adventure at an advanced age, but I'm envisioning a new room in hall of creation:

In The Hall Of Age
You are standing in a long featureless hallway. The walls and floor are
a neutral gray color, while the ceiling vanishes into the darkness above.
The only way to pass here is through one of the portals that loom ahead.
Obvious exits: young middle-aged old venerable
A glowing portal labelled - 'Young'.
A glowing portal labelled - 'Middle-aged'. (40 tokens)
A glowing portal labelled - 'Old'. (60 tokens)
A glowing portal labelled - 'Venerable'. (80 tokens)

Also, how about using tokens to add different innate language skills at 20 per? Learning language skills isn't adding anything unique, but allows for greater customization up front. I once did a Taslamaran paladin that RP'd coming from the North and had to do some really twinkish invis/flight stuff to spam up aghelian tongue in order to convincingly pull it off. I'd have gladly paid tokens to have that be a more organic setup process.

My bad on nightfall being gray. Glad someone called me out.
If LT for religions becomes a thing, we should have a poll or something for which gods would be added. Unless Dulrik knows what gods are best.

Hall or creation/age seems cool. But if were going to add new halls of creation stuff, we should come up with multiple options to add to halls of creation. Like 50 tokens to enter the "customization halls" that has multiple rp opportunities for people who want to make their characters uber snowflakes. Not sure what all would fit in this. Maybe things like age, family name, unique religions, and others. All languages mastered? (Parents forced you to learn these things as a young child)
We could add other options as well.

@Dulrik: should we have another poll that is "alternative ways to EARN loyalty points"?
Seeing as how were coming up with other ways to spend them?

I dont know how everyone would feel about it, pre-invested priests from halls of creation. Then you could RP from day dot being apart of a religion. Would go well with advanced age options.

Imm intervention for paladins and priests that struggle to find an HF are usually pretty speedy. I probably wouldn't spend tokens on this.

Spend loyalty tokens to start at level 41. Character starts out 4 years older than he would normally.

This saves veterans 20 hours of their life, and makes it so they don't have to RP being an amateur. Doesn't make them more powerful in the end-game. Still have to spend 10 hours grinding out level 41 - 50 if they don't have OOC hook-ups.

My understanding is that loyalty tokens are earned through long-lived characters and stuff, so this reward ends up going to players who stick with their characters, anyways. Punish anyone who just does PK spree and deletes.

Please list your ideas for new uses for loyalty tokens here. Ground rules as follows: The proposed use cannot raise the maximum combat power potential of the character. It should also not allow you to skip the normal leveling process.

Also, while I'm posting to this thread, I want to remind people that when you gain loyalty tokens they can only be used on a future character. This should also be considered a ground rule.

Finney's idea to allow you to decrease your age/increase your maximum age is interesting, but is a bit counter-intuitive, since that character you've played for a long, long time and probably earned you a lot of LT isn't eligible to use them.

Maybe modify that idea a bit to be able to spend LTs to increase your maximum age by 10%, spendable up to, say, 5 times ---- but without changing the "normal" aging process?

Does that make any sense? I'm envisioning a human that is still venerable around 81 but who lives to 150.
