I didn't vote because I'm not sure whether I like this idea or not. If a change were to go into effect, however, I'd rather see Dulrik's version (auto assist still happens but with a "random" target) than people not assist at all. This would remove concentrated fire from individual targets unless people were paying attention, slow down combat overall, and provide a platform from which to evaluate this kind of change.

Once implemented, if combat still seemed too fast then auto-assist could be removed entirely (which would then require the fixing of a bunch of "bugs" like figuring how how to keep sanctuary working in group pk, separating between "PvP" and "PvE", etc.).

Oh, and I agree with Finney that with either version of the change, the intra-group targeting problem needs to be looked at. Preferably fixed so you just can't aggro someone inside your own party except under special circumstances.

Idea: reveal <target>

Reveal your disguise / morph to your target (who must have you greeted), so that they may target you by name (and so they cannot target you by your new adjective when in a group).

Idea: auto reveal

You automatically reveal yourself to everyone in your group when you transform or disguise.


At any rate, I definitely vote YES on getting rid of auto assist for PK and fixing up the targeting system. :)

This still doesn't solve the problem of knowing which enemy you can hit. You will still be randomly guessing till you find something. Also revealing an enemy isnt likely to work s you wont have them greeted and if you could it would make certain skills pretty much useless.

You don't reveal an enemy. The sorc/disguiser reveals themselves to you that are on your side.

This is very much the factor that this change is "supposed" to change though, requiring more coordination = giving out targets, secondary targets in case that one is unreachable. There are several cases in which I would actually suggest for my group to split their dps, as to not get huge overkills and have one or two rounds wasted picking out a new target for whoever got to the first one "too late".

Before any of this can work. Glance will absolutely need to show the entire group. I don't care if it is linked to look so that others will know that you are looking at their formation.

I agree, the slower combat comes the better in my opinion, less opening combat spam winning rounds for less prepared players. Any change to slow down group combat, will favor the more organized and better prepared group, as should happen.
