Honestly, it doesn't make that big of a deal against an HoL. A bajillion damage minus five is still pretty close to a bajillion damage.

That's definitely true. My point was to suggest that maybe Ardith didn't prepare as much as he would like us all to believe. He'd like us to think that he made every right move and decision. Obviously, that isn't the case.

Armor protection makes very little difference when you're unbuffed. AP is nowhere near as good as defensive buffs like sanctuary and protection, spirit aura and others. So, I don't see how that is even relevant.

My question is, why would I bother enchanting for AP when if I did run into an MR hammer barb it'd be very likely he'd kill me, and I'd just be donating a superior suit to the other side?

But barbarians don't like magic, so they wouldn't accept enchanted armor. It says so in RP.

He wouldn't accept it, he'd take it and give it to a friend. Besides, MR barbs can't wear armor because they're griffons lolol

This is just wrong. If you take a non-MR barb and put him up solo against a MR barb, the non-MR barb wins. AoN doesn't negate all buffs every time, and even if it did, the non-MR barb still hasn't had to spend training sessions on MR to make his AoN worthwhile. He has spent them on other stuff, which presumably makes him tougher in an unbuffed vs. unbuffed fight. What's more in this scenario the non-MR barb always gets to open with a bash because he can be invisible and the MR barb can't see him.

I disagree with your conclusion. I think in most fights a MR barb would beat a non-MR barb because MR barbs can wear much higher armor protection on their gear than non-MR barbs. Although non-MR barbs need to enchant fortitude and willpower on their gear--and some may argue mp--MR barbs do not. All of the stat train cost of making a MR barb can be easily made up for in one jewelry piece, so I don't buy the argument that MR barbs are stat deprived since the enchant changes. A MR barb can wear full AP on all upper/mid slots. A non-MR barb cannot wear full AP on both slots or else they will get owned by spells. This reduces melee damage against the MR barb substantially. This advantage is far more significant than the spells remaining after a AoN.

The only place I would want a non-MR barb with me rather than a MR barb is if I were doing PVE or CRS.

That's bananas, Gilgon. You can't enchant armor pieces with anything other than MP and AP, and only a total fool would enchant their non MR barb for MP on their upper targetted pieces. MR barbs are certainly easier to enchant for and don't have to go through the hassle of finding armor pieces with innate saves, but their potential for damage reduction is way lower than non MR barbs EXCEPT against magical weapons.

Can MR barbs still spam eat mistletoe and heal more effectively than regular barbs with heal pots?

For three rounds, yes. After that the diminishing returns on MR healing outweigh heal vials. Still, in a barb vs MR barb fight, it's basically over in three rounds anyways.

You know what would be cool? If AoN had a chance to erase the magic from potions in the target's inventory.
