The Revamp Action thread has created in me a desire to post my targetable emote idea again.

What I would like to see is a temote that allows you to target another character/NPC.

Syntax

temote <target> <string>

Any time the target's name is used in the emote (including when used with an 's or s') it would be replaced with their adjective for witness that doesn't have the target greeted.

Example

I type: temote Cannibal flings some poop onto Cannibal's shirt.

Cannibal sees: Lei_Kung flings some poop onto your shirt.
Witness knowing Cannibal sees: Lei_Kung flings some poop onto Cannibal's shirt.
Witness not knowing Cannibal sees: Lei_Kung flings some poop onto a crazy-bearded male human's shirt.

This allows for much greater ease and flexibility in emotes. And since I've always thought the emote is the greatest RP tool the mud gives us I just want to see it expanded some. What are your thoughts?

I don't like it - I think it's unnecessary, and there are other things I'd rather see.

I agree with lantern, basically, it comes down to how easy it is to code... If it's an easily-added feature, then certainly, I'd like to see it added to the mud. But aye, there are other things higher on the priority list (imo).

It already exists to a certain degree for Imms when building. I wouldn't assume to know how much work it would be for Dulrik. Although, I disagree it is even right for us to consider what is excessive for D, that is only for him to decide. Not to mention the question isn't about what it would take to put in, it is would you like to have temote.

PEmotes aren't used very often as is, but hell. Why not. It's not an idea I have any strong feelings towards, but as sure as hell couldn't hurt anything.

Just a little bump.

If motivated voice your support or objection, I want to know.

Sklz, I didn't know pemotes weren't used much, I tend to like them. Although, I think the temote has a broader range of application.

pemote has a limited application. Temote, I would use all of the fricken time. I would most likely use it as often as emote. We need more ways in SK to make the game, like someone else wrote on another thread, like a book. Bugs and new features aside, anything that would enhance RP should be given priority.

Sure, it would help. But thing is, there are a lot of people who use emotes BADLY. I'm not looking forward to seeing that with temote. I suppose, if it were put in, I'd use it...but I'm still for finding inventive ways to use emote that look good.

I like this idea, as I liked the pemote idea before it.

No, Jardek. I said I like the idea. That means you tell us how stupid we are. Or do you want me to disagree?
