Post subject:  Call for Books

I've just noticed that A Certain Area in the game is pitifully-devoid of books. Before I get started fixing this problem, I wanted to offer players the opportunity to contribute as well. Priority will be given to books dealing with 'magical' subject matter, particularly 'magical theory,' accounts of extraplanar entities, and other such esoterica. I'm not looking for 'JoeBob's Totally IC Book Listing Phat Lewt That Detect Magic Says is Magic'. I'm talking 'special interest' books of arcane lore that the average character might well dismiss as gibberish.

Guidelines:

* The authorship of the book is entirely up to you, whether that means its author is unknown/anonymous, an NPC you've invented specifically for this purpose, or a PC (but see below). There will be no initial restrictions based on time period, although I am likely to become more selective about this if I get 20 proposals for books supposedly written in the Second Age.
* You may attribute books to deceased player characters if you wish. However, please do not write a book 'written' by a PC you did not play without the express permission of their former player.
* I WILL allow books 'written' by a currently-active character. However, if you choose to go this route, there will be some additional requirements from an IC standpoint [about which I will elaborate further via PM upon request].
* Books dealing with history or IC events are fine, as long as they suit the 'scholarly/magical' theme.
* Please include the page breaks you want in the text.
* You may choose to include color codes as well, though this isn't necessary.

Caveat:

* I reserve the right to edit submitted books, or reject them outright, if the writing, layout, or style strikes me as poor. The latter will be kept to a minimum.

Finally: if you have a great idea for such a book, but aren't entirely sure how to go about writing it, please feel free to PM me, and perhaps we can work something out.

Anyone interested in contributing: please shoot me a PM sometime in the coming week.

XOX

Thbn.

Okay hi, it's officially been six months and I haven't received any of your submissions. Will those individuals who responded to this post please get ahold of me ASAP with an update on your progress or lack thereof? Thanks a bunch.

:o

I missed this thread the first time around. If I, or anyone else for that matter, come up with a decent book idea, are you still open for submissions?

Sure, if you or anyone else has an idea that you feel might fit these criteria, feel free to contact me via PM or email.

EDIT: Let me add, 'by Monday' for good measure. This project has been stalled for too long already.

I wrote a book, but seeing as it is over 50,000 words, I couldn't submit it.

I wrote several books concerning this for the Adepts.

Two of them were in Uxmaln Writing. They may still be in the Adept HQ. Duno wtf happened to the Adept HQ...but I'll send them your way.

Edit: Crap I lost them...

They should be in the game though. I'd say just use the ones written in Uxmaln, the Adept Ciphered ones are ment for Adepts only. I think the one I wanted put in the Torrum Arcana was "The Laws of Magic" or some such.

Yes, I have not forgotten our conversation on this subject last year, Mr. I'm-still-posting-in-this-thread-instead-of-emailing-Thuban-like-he-asked!

Along these lines, I too have a request should someone wish to take it up. Same guidelines as Thuban's only I am looking for...
Paladin based books:
-Epic stories of the life of a paladin.
-The virtues of a paladin.
etc

Sorcerers:
-Magic based books, theories to enchantments, guides to brewing, etc.

Bards:
Books of original songs, ballets, etc.

Isn't there a book you're supposed to have already placed in game?

Will someone tell me if the "Laws of Magick' book I had Sadr put in the Adept HQ still exists?

Cause I really didn't want that one to be only Adept.

That book, and the two books I wrote by Mortimor I want spread around if at all possible.

Or would suggesting books already in game be not possible?

I could help make a list of good classic-been-in-the-games for IC eons type of books that I would recomend for the level if I had more info.
