I would say that taking armor from someone is WAY less of a moral qualm than killing them. I mean, seriously. I favor the destruction of equipment in most cases because it stops them from take all corpse and trying to kill you again.
There are cases where this is exempt, such as an honorable duel or jumping someone 4+ on 1. But, if the person attacks you, and you kill them (not stun), I'd say there's an ooc action stopping you from stopping them IC from another murder attempt.
