 Post subject: Languages and Intelligence.

I think your base intelligence should affect how many languages your character can learn. Why would a dumb person who can barely speak straight be able to know 6 or more languages? Something like 20+ int to learn all of them, maybe 20 to learn 7, 18 to learn 6, 16 to learn 5, 14 to learn 4, 12 and under you get 3?



The way the game is right now, once you get past like level 10, the different languages don't matter, you learn them all for free from another player.

I think this is a terrible idea. Yeah, it's realistic, but it'd also be really annoying, especially when there's no widely used common tongue.

I agree that int should play some role on languages writen and spoken however only on creation. You cannot limit a players gameplay just because they have a dumb giant.

Introducing a common language along with this idea might be a good idea, though.

Yeah, I can't wait till nobody ever uses any languages outside of inductions/LEET AREPEE. Or the poor newbie who learns his quota and then can't get into a religion because he can no longer learn, for instance, deep.

I'll sum this up.

1. Introduction of this idea in any way or in any combination with a common tongue would lessen the enrichment and freedoms SK's broad language code allows.

2. Syndal is now attempting to say that being able to learn all languages is somehow of the same order of magnitude as being able to learn all skills and spells would be. This is inaccurate and, dare I say in gameplay, trite.
