Enhanceing rp through pmotes and smotes and added talking in pmotes and smotes. For this to work the target's name has to be spelled exactly and properly capitalized. I think this would make roleplaying way more intresting.

pmote <action> <target>
pmote <target> <action>

With this command, you can direct your own action at someone.
An example:

>pmote slaps Bob.
Someone in the room would see:
Gary slaps Bob.
Bob would see:
Gary slaps you!

smote <action>

Smote works a lot like pmote because you can still give
it a target. Though with smote, you are able to place
your name anywhere into the action.

>smote During his temper tantrum Adren slaps Bob.
Someone in the room would see:
During his temper tantrum Adren slaps Bob.
Bob would see:
During his temper tantrum Adren slaps you.

Also by adding speach, The player could just type $T(For Talk) and type what he wants to say then $X to close it off.

I think that adding speech options to emotes is a wonderful idea.

I'm all in favor of the targetable emote. Not sure about the speech one, I just haven't put much thought into it. But the targetable emote I would love to see.

Speech embedded into emotes would be far to superior the to previously mentioned 'asay' command or anything like that. You could let players get very constructive with the description of their language. I can see a few aliases being made to make something like:

alias ssay emote says in a low, gravelly voice, $T &* $X

...resulting in...

Kalidar says in a low, gravelly voice, ' Jhorleb just had me killed by a bunch of treants. I'm pissed. '

---

Oh, the possiblities. Oh oh. How about this combo. Making a targettable emote with speech embedding!

temote <target> <string to be emoted>

alias whisper temote <target> leans over and whispers to <target>, $T<string to be said>$X

So something like....

whisper olrin I think your adjective sucks.

...would be...

Aram leans over and whispers to Olrin, 'I think your adjective sucks.'

I think people need to think this over more, so I hope everyone voices there opinion for this, we need to emphasise on rp not just lv and pk..

The problem is that this sort of thing is brought up periodically, argued over heatedly, and then lies forgotten until six months later somebody brings up this sort of thing, folks argue heatedly over it, and it fades away until...anyhow.

I haven't seen a lot of immortal yae-or-naying, in fact, I don't recall much immortal opinion expressed on these ideas. (Disclaimer - I have a rotten memory.)

For yours specifically - there is already a pmote, it makes a possessive emote. Call it Tmote or something instead and I'd put my vote behind it - but I already voted yes.

I agree that it would be awesome to see some changes directed specifically to enhance RP! I love speech embedding, I've only suggested asay elsewhere as a simpler option in hopes it might be more likely to see it. The targeting emotes would be wonderful too. Since I grew brave enough to post on the forums, I've been begging for actions to go beyond standing. One of the ideas for 2007 really caught my eye also, Silmar's I think: "Also Action emotes. Act give emote throws his @water to ^blue. Comes out as <your name> throws his waterskin to a blue-eye human. Followed by a Masked Give command. Also compatible with look, any attack command (cleave kill back stab), get etc. "

I think the general route of responses is either enthusiastic 'for' and, for the against either: "Rather see other things coded," or "These things can already be accomplished other ways and you're just lazy in your RP." I think that sums up what's gone before. But especially with the dual-membership and other such ideas being tossed around, don't feel bad that you're not seeing much feedback here. Keep hoping!

Smote is unacceptable, because you can use it to force players to do things, without making the OOC originator of the action clear.

Bill types: smote Bob asskicks Bill.
Bill types: say How dare you!
Bill types: kill Bob

Otherwise, richer emotes would be a good addition to the game.

Extra emote
Aemote With in Aemote you are able to target objects and people in the room you are in.
Syntax Aemote <string>
Special chars:
\ = targeted object (can return message is no there and fail the emote)
/ = Target person (can return message is not there and fail the emote)
"" = Anything with in double quote is language based so spoken.

A few examples
Aemote Growls in a deep voice "Go away".
Aemote points is \sword at /skinny. Growling in a deep voice "I said Go away."
Aemote sniffs at the \herb with a funny look on his face.
Aemote turns the \mace over in his hands. Seeming a little perplexed "Sorry but I dont remember any lore about it."
Aemote glances towards /slender but returns his eyes to /tanned.

PS If your looking for example code to work from I believe Shadows of Isildur has something like this.
