Come on people, if you have the hookups to get all the good newbie gear from the different cities, you should have the sense to give yourself a description and adjective at novice.

What if you could not mentor someone with out three lines of description any skills/level past amateur. This would encourage people to write descriptions. If they just entered three blank lines then it could be seen that they where trying to void the system and be punished accordingly. The mentor can say something like "You are to not *descript* enough to be taught such a skill."
Im only saying mentors because if it is all NPCs. A newbei might not be able to train a skill and not figure out why. Where a mentor can tell them. Icly and OOCly what needs to happen.

Does that really need to be hardcoded? Just make a simple choice, as a player: this person does not have a description or adjective, I am not going to mentor them until they do.

I do it when ever I pick it up but I know that others do not. The reason I have suggested it is because you are limiting a bonus to those who dont follow the rules. Rather than punishing them.

My recommendation is that a mentor should encourage and help the newbie to create an adjective and description. If they refuse to do so, they probably don't deserve further assistance from you.

I am not talking about newbies, at least not true newbs, I have patience for them.

My beef is the people running around with equipment from several different areas OR those who have has time to gather the money on their own to have full suits of good newb gear OR those who just have great hook ups from the start.

When these people are running around at novice or above with only an adjective it is frustrating. I took the 30 seconds to come up with a brief description, they can too.

As far as RP with the mentoring system is concearned, it is great when you can catch those involved in this, but I have seen quite a few slipping through.

Either way a three line description and an adjective should take less time than it takes to aquire five platinum to buy a decent basic suit.

 Over.

I am tired of seeing emotions as descriptions, and seeing descriptions so lousy it looks like the person never even looked it over themselves. But what can I do, all I can do is make mine original/correct and interesting so thats what I do most of the time.
