While this would be really convenient, it kind of breaks the mood, in a way. seeing [m] [l] [t] on every single item is just kinda like :?, though I suppose you could say the same for durability. Perhaps more like this:

A more streamlined implementation is needed, regardless

Which brings to mind another suggestion - how about auto durability? Same idea, just shows/removes the durability tag.
