What if crafts were introduced into SK?
Armorsmithing/weaponsmithing for warriors, leatherworking for adventurers, and the like.
Crafts could be related to the character's race, dwarves having a set of the finest skills in heavy armor, elves being the masters of light mithril armors and light blades, humans and half elves having craft skills related to the country they grew up in and learned their trait in, drow specializing on adamantite weapons and so on.
Then we could go gather materials from all sorts of places to create weapons and armor that are just as decent as top gear obtainable from NPCs.
This would certainly give GM's a thing to bother with. Anyone remember running for supernatural skins?
It would also re-induce player market in the game, where the dwarf armorsmith would be able to add a cost to his craft, even if the materials were provided to him. Also, players would be able to gather materials and sell them to crafters for coin.
