 Post subject: Humming items and sneak

Should humming items prevent sneak from happening? Just like glowing items prevent you from hiding and camouflaging, due to the light source you make. Shouldn't humming items prevent sneaking? Due to the noise?

Ugh, no. I wish you could still hide and camo with glowing stuff on, we don't need something else to make playing more annoying.

It makes sense, but items that hum don't give you any gameplay benefit to compensate for that loss of stealth. Glowing items give you light, which in my view made it a fair tradeoff.

I think on a crit, the victim should take extra dmg, that is sonic based.

How loud is the humming? Do you only notice the hum when you closely examine the item or the person using the item? Or is it actually audible enough for you to look for whatever is humming?

I have been asked to add another enchant or 2 to weapons I made hum. I'd never do it myself for fear of item destruction, but yeah. Anyway, humming weapon gets enchanted, it hums louder-perhaps loud enough to actually emit a sound coming from Holder's direction. In such a case, not only would the occasional line of type be distracting but also the person could then be deemed incapable of sneaking.

As a sidebar, I think any piece of equipment that generates an echo when someone walks from room to room should also announce the entry of that person, disabling sneak for them. Now obviously when you hear something, you'll often look to see who's the cause, but it's still possible for the sound to occur and nobody notice the sneaker actually arrive.
