I was thinking, it would great if we could choose what age a character starts at during character creation. Why? Because you see things like 'wizened' or 'old' as adjectives, but they're really not that old. Age wise that is. So maybe if we could choose the age of the character (ranging from starting age to age death of that class) we could have people start playing old people more!

PK advantages: Yes, I realize this would mean you'd see a lot more old mages. But you know, that wouldn't be really bad image at all. When I think wizard I don't think a young stud muffin.

RP advantages: The use of aging adjectives! Wizened! Wrinkly! All those! And you can rp as an older person instead of EVERY CREATION begin as this young pup. Sometimes I want to start off as this very wise, old person who has a lot of insight about life from his days as a farmer but was forced to fight as a soldier of the empire because of wars. Or even just middle-aged.

Any other ideas that surround this one would be good to know. If this could be tweaked to be even more favorable to the big D. This is simply my initial idea.

I totally agree with this. I find the starting age to be rather restricting. While I do think the age death scenario is unique, I find it to be a bit annoying at times.

I too have often wanted to play a character who is old or even ancient at times. Would be interesting to say the least.

So how do you RP being a 70 year old initiate-level sorcerer? Seems off.

If this is implemented, then age-oriented stat buffs should be unavailable to people that roll fogies... or something. I just doesn't seem quite right.

Maybe add back the age penalty to haste or something, so people have a way to age the crap out of themselves. It seems kind of bs that humans can have GS and lightning dex, I wouldn't mind effectively buffing races that have natural stats.

In my defense, my character is actually old. I created him, then placed him on the shelf for half a year until I started leveling him. :p

At first glance I thought the idea said that someone should be able to choose a new adjective at each age tick. That's an idea I could go for. I will have to say that if you want to play an aged character, you'll have to put in the (very) minimal effort to get it.

I like this idea. I'd love for characters to be able to change over time.

I agree with the change of adjective thing. In fact, I brought this up when I was fed up of playing a flame-haired human and wanted to be greying, or wisened, etc. All my requests were promptly ignored :P
