1: Whenever your characters birthday comes up, a message should say it's their birthday.

B) The ability to choose ANY one language when you start instead of automatically getting the native language of the kingdom you start in. This could generate a little bit of low level roleplay. People could start somewhere and have to break language barriers. I.E. Elf starts in Teron. They want to roleplay not knowing anything about Teron because they were enslaved and brought there but are Sylvan by birth.

Thoughts?

I like both of these ideas.

I am not so sure about the language, they would have some understanding if they have lived in a foreign country as a Slave. It would nice if you could have a primary and secondary language at the start, the secondary being only learned to say fair or something.

not if say.. you start playing your elf in teron the moment it landed in the slave pits. Also, if someone is just stuborn or racist or any number of reasons someone could come up with.

No I agree with that, I just don't think you should be able to start a character in an area without the language... unless of course you don't want to use OOC knowledge to cheat. If you RP that then how are you going to justify knowing what the trainers are saying, or anything about you.

I'm againts the language idea, simply because it would be a hassle for newbies. Too many already pick a kingdom which is ... fubar to say the least. I've seen many elves in Krychire, and I can say with full conviction that a newbie picking the wrong language would end up frustrated and quitting, not to return.

I kinda liked the old DnD take on this where you *could* get bonus langauges depending on your intelligence. It would be nice if there was a way to start with a second language.

I'm for the language idea if it's only enabled for a person who chooses that they are not new to Pyrathia at creation. I'd hate to see newbies running around not knowing the language of the newbie trainers, ect.
