Post subject:  Releasing spells

Would it be possible to modify the release command to accept the name of a spell as well as the number to identify which spell it is I want to release?

Let me explain why I would like this.

I engage anything in combat, most likely it will be a problem with swashies though so I'll use them as an example.

My caster and a swashie are going at it, the swashie lands a taunt and now I can't concentrate enough to cast my damage spells. So what do I do?

I quickly have to type release with no arguments to find what the number is for the spell(s) I already know I'm going to release, and then type release again with that spell number.

Not to mention in larger combats the output of the 'release' command can be lost in combat spam although the nospam options did help this, it still takes away valuable seconds which in PK is huge.

So what I'm asking for is the ability to release a spell based on the name of the spell with the same abbreviation and need for single quotes that is required to cast the spells.

That way instead of having to check to see what number is assigned to detect hidden and detect invis I can quicky type

rele 'detect i;rele 'detect h

I know its more typing, it can be aliased down to two characters making it even less typing than rele 2;rele 3 ect...

Discuss...or more likely than not. Argue.

EDIT: typos

What if you are holding more than one copy of the same spell?

Then it releases the first one, or does nothing and says "You should be more specific."

If it was made so that it would release the first one then if someone wanted to release all of their invis(for example) they can just spam 'rele invis' by continuing to hit 'enter' as I think we all use a client that queues the last command sent.

Or, better, it releases the one cast on yourself first. This would keep the advantage/disadvantage balance in check.

OR you could set it up to rele spell &*. I want to release my sanctuary on Chauld. rele sanc chauld.

Problem solved.

I'd love this if it's possible.

Me too! Especially since Chauld always BREAKS sanctuary.

If I were to implement it, I'd think it should release all of the named spell. Order of casting time is not kept in the list.

It would still be more than what we can do right now, so there's absolutely no downside if it releases all of the named spell, players would still be able to release only one of them using the 'old method' so to speak.

*crosses his fingers in anticipation*

A failsafe could reject when there is more than one spell of that name:

Code:
> release sanctuary
You release yourself from your sanctuary.

> release invis
You are concentrating on more than one spell of that name.

> release invis all
You release Grimm from your invis.
You release yourself from your invis.

> release 'water breathing' all
You release yourself from your water breathing.
You release Grimm from your water breathing.

This is in line with the RELEASE ALL option that currently exists, too.
