Yeah, the other polymorph thread really made me think about this.

Is there really any logical reason why polymorphed characters don't have law immunity? It's practically the same spell as mimic in application. Any real reason or just the fact that Dulrik doesn't think sorcs should have part time law immunity?

I think the only reason why to keep it as is, is so that the certain cabal spell isn't just a weaker form of poly.

Aside from game balance, I don't see a good reason why. I do think that disguise and poly should protect you from being attacked by guards/bounty hunters, if you are outlawed.

I don't think I'd want all scroll-using classes having access to polymorph if it was 'buffed' in such a way that it offered law immunity. I can see it being abused by rogues and bards, especially.

I agree. I see a lot of abuse occurring. Let it be enough that deep-elves can get into sith'a'niel w/ polymorph and vise versa. Thats a good enough buff for me!

Polymorph's already elite anyway. You can run around looking like a common adj or NPC from that area and scout and stuff and as long as no one see's you, you're perfectly fine.

Abuse? You think completely changing your appearance to fool guards is abuse? All I see is potential for a change like this. Imagine a rogue could actually RP a hit man or assassin by being able to actually get into a city he's wanted at and succeed. You don't see that crap happening now cause the cities are freaking fortresses that it takes a group of 9 to get through anymore. Sk is about tactics and role play this change would open up both.

Even with a change like this mimic would still be much more special than polyporph. I mean come on you intercept tells while mimic'd can't do that while poly'd.

I can think of some pretty mean things to do as a bard or rogue with this 'change' that is being proposed.

Stiff penalties in jail are really the only deterrent people have from being too excessive in assaulting people in certain places. I think if you take that away, it will actually open up the door for endless law infractions at almost no penalty to the aggressor.

I doubt this kind of change will generate any sort of 'RP', but it will certainly open the door for people to grief others with very little risk.

So yeah, I stand by my original statement: abusable.

Polymorph should make every NPC go aggro versus you. Even PC's. They walk into the room and are automatically engaged in battle with you. Actually. Polymorph should cause every NPC or PC you come into contact with to final strike you.

I'm for it. But the concentration cost on Polymorph will have to be up'd a few notches, to a point where using a charm is impossible or with a high risk of breaking your concentration on polymorph, also would no longer be able to scribe the spell making it Sorc only. Only way to stop it from being heavily abused.

As for disguise, I'm for that aswell, since I believe you break your disguise on attack and can't really apply it while your pulse is going. If Hide is subjected to the same rules, then even more reason to allow a disguised person to casual walk past law NPCs while outlawed.

You only break it if you flee or die or type 'vis', if I remember correctly. Otherwise, it just wears off after a time.

If poly could be used to avoid crime, one's own cities would become even more dangerous to hang out in than they already are, which is bad.

Not to mention law NPCs wouldn't chase you if you were already outlawed. And no, you can't have one without the other, honestly.
