Post subject:  Pole-maces

Hi.

I'm here to ask why there is such a limited supply of range weapons for non-fighters.

I realize that there was an implementation of a few shopkeepers that sold polemaces, but in a limited supply (say like for example, 2).

I don't understand the need to limit this weapon. Can someone explain this to me?

Can we please up the supply of pole-maces? This is just ridiculous. I've been trying to locate a pole-mace for weeks and have found a rare few on *some* pcs, but that's it.

Yes, some classes are already at a disadvantage for them. I don't see why low level (steel) couldn't be found. For high lvl fine, but at low levels the classes that needs them the most, are usually at a severe training disadvantage.

I'd be more likely to remove them entirely than add more. Most classes made do without any access to reach weapons at all until weapon types were introduced in late 2003. Pole-maces were intended to be prized by the few individuals who managed to attain them, not be a levelling crutch for every priest in the game.

Most being, not including priest. If they had a novice, low damage spell. Sure, I could understand. Trying to level a gnome or halfling priest at low lvls is painful at best.

Previously when 'priest leveling' was brought up, pole-mace was discussed in the topic, too. At that time, it was around the beginning of Bonanzas, and when I checked the shops around the game, pole-maces were always available for sale. Unless the quantity limits have been adjusted, the current available pole-maces are probably on characters who have been trying out Bonanzas and religion spells over the last few months. Thanks so much for both of those by the way.

In conclusion I would like to echo the concerns of the other posters in this thread. It is extremely time consuming and tiresome to level these casters. Most casters level with sub 20 STR, without enhanced damage, and pole-mace barely does any damage as a subtype as it is.

'Healing' other party members barely provide any experience at all. It comes down to using the mana to blast away and sleeping for 5 minutes at a time to regenerate the lost pool. Having a pole-mace, even just plain steel would greatly, and I emphasize, greatly increase the enjoyment value for anyone who plays healers.

There are ample priests in SK now, much thanks to the religion spells that have brought so much attention to the class, making them unique, etc.. (We would like other classes to have specialization too eventually, please!) However, please consider increasing the quantities or implement plain steel pole-maces, that way we don't have to wait for the code to strip down less active characters, and the game can carry on in a healthy flow.

Then there is absolutely zero reason a person wanting to go into a cloth faith should even bother joining until Jman.

PS It's bad enough that all npcs now throw things at you if you're not in front row...

Heck, with NPCs throwing stuff now. I don't see the problem anymore.

You can still live with an axe thrown at you ever couple of rounds.

God I *hated* cloth priests because even with magical vestments I would just die.

I wanted to just delete delete because trying to level a halfling cloth priest to journeyman was like pulling teeth without a polemace (which I had to do).

And it's not any better with a shaman.

Move second attack to apprentice.

When I levelled my priest I just cast magical vestments on my camel and have them start combat then come in after the combat started. Never took any damage until I started getting maybe veteranish. Taking damage isn't really that bad though you can gain a lot of experience healing yourself. Also don't level on things with weapons if you can avoid it.
