When you charm a player, he should be prevented from sit and rest or else he can escape easily when moving.

This is not rp-wise but happens.

There should be a code prevention to this. If not, the sorceror/hellion must stay in the same room in fear of losing the charmed person.

This spoils the fun and the point.

Thank you.

I've had numerous situations in which people completely violate any sort of rp for charm, and cheat via code to avoid the effects of charm. Presumably, the same cheats exist for dominate.

First, if this has happened to you, send the log to an imm and expect to see the cheater cursed.

Second, the only commands that should be allowable to enter when charmed should be say, emote, and gtell. ALL other commands should be disabled (including tell and cb), because people cheat their way out of charm ALL the time.

I agree.

As for the log + curse -> I do not really care to see the player cursed. I just want to see this thing fixed at last. This is my third sorceror and there are still problems with charm person. :(

Perhaps if enough people eat enough curses for cheating, it will be resolved without a need to change code.

Unlikely, given the mentality of most SK players, but possible and potentially a LOT faster than waiting for D to get to something that's already been a problem for a long time.

I'd like to see less alternatives available to the victim while charmed. That'd be a boon to sorcerors.

Yeah, its pretty sad when you charm someone and try to lead them to a dragon so they can get eaten and the entire way there they land/sit.

You know who you ARE!!

It's a widespread problem. People -will- abuse the code in any way possible when charmed, in an attempt to get out of it. Attacking other members of your party, landing, sitting, resting, they'll send tells to anyone and everyone they know, etc...

How about if someone is charmed or dominated they can't input commands? Would there be a way to not affect npcs by this?

We want them to input commands. It's called RPZ, I got dominated a couple weeks or so ago and RP'd it. And about 75% of the time I've charmed people I've done nothing more than RP with them.

I hardly ever see charm/dominate used anymore, and I think it's because people suck horribly at RP'ing something other than OMGZ I AM AWESOME I KILL JOO.

We've been through that a lot of times.

Charm/dominate is a fine & very helpful skill when used with NPC's, YET it's unhealthy in nature when a PC is involved. If charm is hard-coded in this manner, leaving NO options to the victim, then it will be nothing more than an insta-win spell, too overpowered to cope with.

I understand charming and ordering the local guard around but still evades my mind, how a 40 lvl mage can simply charm the high elven and GM priest, leaving him/her no option.

I will suggest that charm should work differently to PC's, giving the victim the chance to escape every 3 or 6 seconds. In this case, leaving the victim no other options while charmed makes sense.

Cheers.-
