 Post subject: Want less hoarding? Have more "monthly" resets.

Hey,

Is there anyone against the idea of increasing the number of game-wide resets we have in the mud? This way, if you haven't held an item for X number of hours over the course of 20-30 days, you don't get to keep that item if it is especially unique. The number of hours required to keep items is quite low, although Dulrik doesn't reveal the exact #.

The monthly reboots greatly increase the number of eq that is out there for the next week or two after they are done. The people who picked up an item and logged off, never to play again for that month, are cleaned out of their elite eq.

A win-win, if you ask me!

As an example, a friend of mine currently has a unique cold-iron pigsticker that breaks stoneskin. He hasn't logged on to play in a while, although he perhaps plays for an hour or two every couple of weeks. Should he be keeping this item, or should it be stripped for inactivity? Keep in mind, if he is extremely active for a full week of play, he won't get the item stripped from him for _over two months_ after he stops playing.

Every month I think, as it was. But the game must reboot every month, not every 50 days or so.

It's very strange you should be making this request for this particular reason. Aren't you the same person arguing on a different thread that there is already far more decent equipment in the game than the number of people currently playing? If anything I would want to make gear more restricted, not make it even easier to get.

I think the hour requirements for keeping Flags of all kinds and EQ need to be like tripled or quadrupled(or even more, not sure what the reqs are at the moment). :o

That's true, but being restricted is one thing, certain KEY unique items being hoarded by a couple of people who rarely log on is quite another.

Also, isn't it about time for a monthly reboot?

That isn't me you are referring to, it's Dark_Avenger. In that specific thread I have argued that scrolls, wands, and staves of an 'offense' type should be removed from the game, and also that I would prefer a return to the time when builders could assign damage rolls to weapons (or atleast something similar to that nature, while still maintaining the subtype system).

I don't think there is far more decent equipment in the game than the number of people currently playing, I think we're just about right. I do think, however, that there are a huge number of items (specifically jewelry and weapons) that are not appearing in the game due to inactivity. This should be corrected, because it really does make a worse game for everyone when the items that builders put a lot of time into aren't there for the pbase to even see.

I don't even know why I voted since I don't care about eq all that much (or know where any of the good stuff is yet) ((or be the level that can wear the eq without it getting 'stolen')) but I do like the idea of not allowing people to hoard eq anymore.

I know people on my last mud specifically went around making sure they had all of the best eq in multiples simply because it meant they would be the strongest char eq wise. I mean, it makes complete sense to me to take out any uber gear from the competition.

So I'm against limited eq hoarding. For sure.
