an unaged delf with full int can't rest while holding two charms, without losing one. And as far as I know, half-elves can't even hold one and sleep. (Both helf mages I've seen may not have had full int though, I didn't ask). I know a lot of you are probably going to say no, but I thought I'd say it anyway and see what people say. |

If there's a sorc running around with even one point less than full int, they should be force-deleted. |

Half-elves in general make horrible casters. Good at almost every other class though(which is better than most races can claim to be). And, holding 2 charms should be -really- hard. That's like 2 gm level warriors you could be walking around with. Edit : Though I actually think a deep-elf with 24 int can rest while holding 2, or I remember wrong. The mana loss though is crazy, even while resting. |

Not on mine. Which I think is pretty irritating when considering that a halfling necro can sleep while controlling two. I'm not saying that it's not natural. It should be harder to hold charms, and it is, but 24 int should count for something |

Sadly, the difference between 23 and 24 in int is very slight. And delves get 2 less wis and less or same everything else too, except dex(uh, doesn't matter as a caster really, thanks Dulrik) when compared to a human sorc. And hey, not done yet! You will get completely screwed by BoG and color spray! Have fun! There is really no reason to pick elf or deep-elf as a race, unless you "just want to be one". Human is a better choice for pretty much every class(one exception IMO is elf/bard/hammer). The difference in stats is extremely minimal, and both elves and deep-elves have a lot of really, really bad weaknesses (FoD/Vamp Touch/E. drain/Negative energy weapons or BoG/Color spray/light damage weapons, and cold iron for both.) And the bonuses for "resistant to charm" and stuff are apparently nowhere near being on the same scale as the weaknesses. QQ over. |

I have to agree with Syndal on this one. I have played for several years now and not once have I had an elven or deep-elven (drow if you go back far enough ) character for very long. Granted the temptation of having a character with 24 INT or CHA is nice but unless you have a really, really compelling RP idea behind your character, the benefits do not outweigh the drawbacks by any means. There have been plenty of threads recently requestion alterations to certain classes, skills, spells and whatnot. In my opinion, elves and deep-elves need a larger incentive to be played nowadays. Each race, correct me if I am wrong, only poses one half-way decent class option. Syndal pointed out very accurately that a bard HAMMER member would be the only elven class option worth playing. Granted I, personally, would have gone FIST but that is just me . However, I must say that a necromancer would be the only deep-elf option that I can think of that would work on a PK level without being completely and utterly vulnerable to being raped with a rusty pole in the rear. I would like to be able to play an elf or deep-elf at some point but I am all 'barded out' at the moment, so to speak, from my last main character and I am not a huge fan of necromancers. It is bad enough you're not very welcome as it is, on an IC basis, when playing a deep-elf. Being a necromancer is not a huge help. Not to mention that both of the previously two mentioned classes take a fair amount of effort, time and know-how to be played adequately. With this said, I think the playerbase really needs to put their heads together. I mean, feel free to shoot me down if I am absolutely dead wrong here but I do not think I am completely out of line here. I am certain this has been mentioned at least several times before this but I thought I might as well rant while I could on this. |
