I'm sure this is a mistake that doesn't happen very often. I'm sure it's only because I'm a newb. Also it's kind of hilarious. Etc.

But I was doing a corpse run and picked up an agro NPC that only hurts me like 1% ever 5-10 minutes, taking hps regen into account. Unfortunately I'm naked and don't have self defense so I can't hurt it at all.

I've been engaged on this stupid NPC for approaching 30 minutes now, it'll probably be another 2 hours at this rate before I die and can get on with gameplay.

even .5% mvs regen per tick in combat would stop this from happening. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Please help? :P

Actually you are fighting. Not resting. So you don't regain anything.

Though I agree that you shouldn't be regaining PE while fighting, and it is a rather good concept to keep.

I understand where this thread is coming from, and there should really be some way of preventing this from happening. Being stuck fighting a NPC with 0% PE where neither fighter is inflicting any damage whatsoever is horrible. And unless someone finds you, or you manage to send someone a tell and get them to help you, you are going to be stuck there for large amounts of time achieving nothing.

OOC courtesy and enjoyment is paramount in SK. And being stuck for long periods of time unable to do anything is in no way enjoyable for a player.

To be honest.. I see no easy fix to this though.

After 10 hours of battle, the animal tires and walks away, looking for easier prey. Partial fix?

If you don't touch the keyboard won't you go into the void? Or just closed the mud client.

That would violate the letter of the law. Voiding to avoid combat. And I'm not sure if you can void while in combat. But my suggested partial fix would prevent the perceived necessity of such actions.

You can void while in combat. Had to do this a while back when I ran out of PE on that stupid invulnerable NPC in the air plane.

Yes, it violates the letter of the law, but in situations like this I would say just risk it. Meanwhile, what if there was a skill you could use to sacrifice a decent amount of HP for PE that would get you out of jams like this?

You can always beg to be summoned, unless this was a part of the summon change.

Perhaps some sort of intervention command could be initiated for situations like this? Something that allows the player to address the pantheon at random without the communication that -Pray- requires.

Something like this, perhaps?

Intervention

Syntax: Intervention <address>

Every now and then, you may come across a game (code) based situation where you are unable to continue play. In situations like these, you may throw yourself at the mercy of the gods, sending them a explanation of your situation and asking them to resolve it. Do not use this command lightly, as the gods are capricious and the resolution may not necessarily be to your liking or preference.

---------

Pray could probably be doubled as a feature for this, but if a player is desperate enough to wager their life on it, it would be a way for staff to intervene in a situation without a bunch of argument over what should happen, ultimately leaving it to the staff member's discretion.

Trying to get some OOC help is an option as well, but it would be nice if this was an alternative rather than the only way.
