1) Until you reach journeyman, eliminate shop closure based on time. If you like, the shopkeeper can say something like: "Well, I'm closed, but I suppose I can make an exception for someone as inexperienced as yourself". It's also been recommended that this feature be removed entirely, but I'm willing to bet that Dulrik won't be on board with that.

2) Don't start the hunger/thirst timer until the character is totally finished and has actually chosen his/her home city. I hate getting hunger/thirst ticks before I'm even done creating because I went afk for a few minutes, and true newbies are likely to spend a lot of time reading the creation questions and help files.

3) Start with auto gold on. I can't fathom a reason that a newbie would want this off.

4) Change the wording of auto noyell. This is just a minor gripe at an unnecessary double negative.

Currently:
Quote:
Auto noyell off -- stops yelling for help when being pkilled

Should be:
Quote:
Auto yell ON -- yell for help when being pkilled

This should be fairly easy: set creation folks to -1 for hunger and thirst and then in the closing stages set it back to 0 so it starts counting properly. An old (albeit slightly illegal) trick that I think Akein or someone received when they became hero.

I agree with 3 & 4, too.

(PS: And for those who don't know already - Dulrik is the only one who can code any of this).

Not to [REDACTED] my own post, but 165 views and one comment is cruel. Some form of approval/disapproval would be appreciated, though I know this isn't as exciting as bitching about class balance.

I see no reason as to why any of these should not be added to the game.

Also make WoR vials non level based. Getting one at a lower level is great, only to have it stolen when I log out.

For those in the know, #2 is unimportant in the amateur ranks. Hunger and thirst have no impact at that time. I realize true newbs will not necessarily know that but at least their hunger and thirst won't harm their regen at amateur levels.

In some muds, you can die from starvation, maybe if they are new here they will freak out because this message pops up..
