I'd like to bring up and old subject that I never got to see an answer to, but in the past I have seen shamans both played with a faith tag, and with out, and I was wondering what your opinions on it is.

My personal thought is they should have their own seperate faith from everyone else, and a special symbol for being a shaman since all the other faith symbols give followers a stat bonus of some kind.

Shamans can join religions anyway.

This just disables their spells. :P

If they lose the protection of their spirits, it's fine. Which is how it is already.

I've always pictured shamans having a spiritual Hiarchy (how ever its spelled) with spiritual advisors, teachers, and so on. I have always found it weird that shamans have never had any real structure behind their teachings since they fit a specific nitch, unlike say a priest and paladin. They have always just assumed their powers with out any supporting rp, which I feel should be changed.

I once idea logged the shaman character sheet having the word shamanism in the religion slot instead of panthiest. This basically takes my idea even further. Perhaps they could create a totem of some kind as a holy symbol? Or pick a totem from a certain list of totems each one conferring a different benifit to the wearer. Sort of like how a merc picks a specialty that can't ever change.

And no one but the shaman or possibly a barbarian can wear the totems? They will zap like a spirit doll. This is an idea I like alot.

Shamans listen to dead people. They talk to dead people. They get their power from dead people. It is the dead people's ideals they further. If they choose to further the ideals of a god foremost, the dead people who never served that god in life will ignore the call.

Select a religion and devote and join at the cost of the aid of the dead people. Shamans already have "religious" crumble-gear. They don't need a bone-filled coffin-on-a-string to wear as a symbol.

Which I don't think has been held by a shaman since I deleted Eiveira, like 2+ years ago. Which is really stupid. Shamans basically got the shaft in the religious EQ department. Some jack-ass sorc or necro or something usually has it. (Hell, some inactive [REDACTED] merc had it for months)

Ishiye had it after Eiveira and I think you deleted before I deleted Golg, so I had it after you also. :P

You, sir, have an extremely restricted picture of what a shaman can be.
