I wish gate messages could be distinguished between "oh, you failed this gate" and "you can't gate there, man" instead of just "you failed" for each one.

You start to concentrate.
[Health 100][Mana 100][Move 100]
You utter the words 'gate'.
You failed.

I think she means gating from or to a no transport room or to a not summonable NPC.

Well, I don't think it is needed. Trial and error are all you need.

If you successfully cast gate and its in a no transport room or what not it will be at full mana. If you fail at casting the spell it will only be half mana, thats how you tell.

I'm just saying it would be nice. And if the target is dead and such.

Maybe a minor difference such as that between a failed cure ailment like cure blindness.
If you fail the spell you get "You failed." if the blindness was too strong for you to cure you get "Spell failed."

Personally I don't care less. Demon is right, gate has reasonable mana cost so you can tell if you failed it or not.

With cure blindness/deafness/etc, does it really matter which? You have to cast it again, afterall.
