Since the code itself can recognize if an item is a weapon or armor/treasure or none of the above, what is the reason for keeping "enchant armor" and "enchant weapon" as two different spells? Wouldn't it be simpler if it were just an "enchant" spell, that would recognize whether it's a weapon or armor/treasure? Both spells do that thing already, so why not compact them into one?

Fairly useless idea. There's a teacher that takes both to superb, and if you use them, they'll get mastered.

Not hard to make an alias like "earm=enchant armor" and "eweap=enchant weapon", so that you don't waste energy by doing "c enchant sword" and getting "that's not a piece of armor" or wtfever, which I'm guessing is what caused this thread to come into existence.

Did it ever occur to you that this way a mage would need to spend less exp learning both spells to superb, too?

I think enchanting needs help, but this seems like a sideways step to me. Yes, it would cost a little less experience to learn spells, but does it really affect you that much?

Did it ever occur to you that it makes you look stupid to jump down someones throat for having an idea?

I believe your answer is that they are seperate due to a coding issue, since enchant armor increases magical resistances, where weapon enchants increase weapon damage and so forth. If you were to combine these two enchants you may end up with weapon damage on your gloves or increased fortitude on your weapon due to the randomness that is added into enchant armor.

By the way I voted yes, but it's probably to much work for what its worth.

Did it ever occur to you that these two sentences might warrant a slightly offensive response?
