Post subject:  Shaman idea: Animism (It's real)

Ok, so people are discussing the removal of voodoo for something else so a thought occurred to me sparked by Jardek's false thread.

Animism would be something that would not simply be trained at a trainer, more so it would be something unique to each shaman and it would take the Pantheist sacred quest to a whole new level for shamans. After reaching the status of Master shamans would be able to undertake a spiritual journey to discover the totem of a wild animal they have the strongest ties with. Upon discovering that very connection they would be granted the ability to infuse themselves with the aspect of that animal.

Now the affects for such an ability would differ from animal to animal, they would either be bonuses or certain temporary attacks they could perform (I didn't really think this part through entirely). For instance, the aspect of the turtle would grant the shaman a temporary increase in their defensive abilies, granting them a thicker hide or something along those lines. Or for instance the aspect of the snake would give the shaman a temporary ability to poison their victims, or the aspect of the bat would give them the ability to drain some health from enemies, etc.

There should probably be some sort of penalty for this, maybe after the time of the aspect has ended you'd need to wait some time before you can use it again. I was also thinking that, while you are affected by the aspect, you lose your PE gradually, or more than usual, because the aspect is draining to your body.

Well that's just the basic idea, I'm pretty sure it can be expanded upon. It would definitely give shamans versatility which is something I'm sure we can all be in favor of.

Wow, talking about some positive thinking there.

Your statement contradicts itself.

As for Minette's horse being beat to death, I do realize that the removal of voodoo and whatnot has been discussed many times. I just wanted to offer a suggestion that's a bit more useful than "remove voodoo or replace with whatever". Besides, I like the idea, sort of like religious spells for priests only the shaman variety.

There's nothing that gets me more excited about playing SK than the implementation of new abilities/feats/changes that somehow make the game more fresh and in many ways new.

Since I don't think voodoo should be removed I won't post anything constructive in this thread... Just here to say how hot you are Snuffler!

It's funny because your entire thread contradicts itself.
You mean Animism right?

Maaaybe I do. :(

I guess I should've mentioned the Animism idea unrelated to voodoo. I just thought it'd be nifty if shamans got some variety.
