I have spotted that you cannot any longer summon NPCs and use them as gate targets. I also learned that this has changed because some people abused this.

I believe that it is unfair for both the game and the players to destroy such privileges which make sk a different mud than the rest.

So I say create a RULE and not a hard code. There are enough immortalls to make sure this rule is kept.

I know it might be some work to bring this as it was but it will be much better for everyone.

Thank you for the consideration.

Some people don't grasp the morality of the few "set-in-stone" rules we have, and because it is entirely impossible to write down a rule for everything that is considered exploiting the systems code or inconsiderate towards other players - it really is the best way just to make the abuse impossible (more or less).
Of course you could just punish the people doing it, but the imm's don't seem to have time for the arguments that follow. Which is sad as only a very few people do it, and it is always the same people who keep doing it.

Remember, most people bring their anarchist personas to any online game. If there is a loophole or even a perceived loophole, those in the know will (ab)use it to its fullest benefit every time it is found. If people actually used principled personas online or even scrupulous personas with principled tendencies, many of the code fixes would be unnecessary. But such will never be the case as all my following flamers will inadvertantly prove.

I agree. Summoning, as it is now, is terrible. It's not even a step backwards, it's like going from today to the stone age. It ruins so many aspects that I sincerely don't believe D fully thought through what he was doing.

This is what happens when [REDACTED] abuse things.

This change was, and still is, completely idiotic.

Because a few players in the game summoned EVERY known gate target for the lightie citys into a VERY heavily guarded area also filled with summoned guards/auto assist NPCs. I encountered it once with my GM sprite swash, fully equipped he still dropped from 100% to 8% in one round.

Which the lightie side abused and did the exact same thing in. Everyone got pissed off, noone had the shopkeepers they wanted and noone had gate targets. So it was changed.

A horrible change, but it was what was called for to actually solve the problem unfortunately.
Along those lines, there are now a couple NPCs that aren't summonable now and all NPCs had the summon spell removed for that same problem.

On topic, I think the best solution for this would be to create known gate names for certain areas. Or even quests in some areas to open the use of a gate target for a character in hard to find areas.

Or if Dulrik is feeling nice, to return summon to the way it was.
And warrant a deletion for anyone stupid enough to summon a NPC as anything other then a gate target or charmie use.

I think the solution is just to put it back the way it was. It was working fine. Not going to happen though :(
