Props to whoever thought of this. Import a copy of the city library into each city's jail.

Everyone knows ya gotta get your GED in jail son.

Not the whole city's library.

Book of All Gods.
Religions of influence in the nation, if applicable in text form.
Professional guidebooks.

Things that may have been "donated" to the jail. Not a GED program.

The Fist could write guides about controlling your anger and being less violent.

Could be great.

There are noteboards in each jail. You are invited to make use of them as reading material, graffiti, or Fist mantras of peace, love, and enlightenment.

There's something amusing to me about a Fist deciding he has to commit a crime so he can go to jail and write on the noteboards to enlighten the masses of "troubled" convicts.

Indeed. And that only works if the guards confiscate everything but your pen and paper. Or deliver one of each with your "daily bread." Which would get cluttery REALLY fast. . . .

hmm.

Gotta disagree with this one, suzie. That basically cuts out a growing portion of the pbase from interesting reading material. I see nothing wrong with bookshelves being placed in the jail cells that contain the same books as the city's library. Hell, it even makes IC sense. If you look at jail from the IC perspective, it's meant to "reform your character" which is why guard NPCs no longer rip your face off when you walk past them. The analogy of the GED studies in RL prisons is an accurate one.

Old prison weren't made to reform anyone.
Neither are modern American prisons, if you're alluding to them. They're privatized labor sources now. Previously, they were hardened cesspools, or trade schools even, of criminal activity.
