One of the things that balances BoG is that it is easily avoided/countered by necros (and priests to a less extent, but they do have sanc), but other classes, such as rogues or mercenaries are completely screwed by it - and as such, noone will create a deep-elf of those classes.

Proposal: BoG can only hit necros and darkie priests.

I know this narrows the lane where paladins are 'efficient' (theoretically), they are still a powerful class, though - and it isn't a practical nerf if the class/race combos are never seen (because of this reason).

Discuss.

How about deep-elves only get indirect damage from the spell? Meaning the nimbus wont hold you at bay and the damage would be reduced.
Something like that.. or the other way around.

I think it's fine that deep-elves get some sort of punch in the face when they get something bright fired at them, or the nimbus would keep them from fleeing.

I completely disagree with this idea simply because if you were to make BoG like this, it would nerf Paladins, plain and simple. BoG is really the only decent spell that Paladins have next to SoF (which is so easily avoidable it's not even funny).

Just my two cents on it.

Well, in my opinion, it wouldn't really nerf paladins. Keep the light weakness to make deep-elf *necros* more vulnerable to it - by all means. But it wouldn't really weaken paladins because noone makes rogue/merc deep-elves ... especially for this reason!

I am conscientious of the importance of BoG to paladins, but I am also aware of the complete void of rogue/merc deep-elves - specifically because of this highly relevant weakness (frankly, more than a weakness) they get.

Yes, but I am also the type of person who has the mindset that if you do wish to PK, I expect you to come at me fully prepared. That means spells up, suit enchanted, positions correct in your group. Otherwise, please do not complain about OPed spells, OPed NPCs, OPed tactics etc etc. I hope that makes sense.

Now on the subject of paladins and BoG. Delves, whether they be merc rogue necro, whatever. I think they have to keep BoG in mind and know that if they come up against a paladin, they should expect BoG to get tossed at you. There are ways to protect yourself from BoG, I know because I have played both delves necros and Paladins. I have seen people completely resist my BoGs over and over. So I don't think BoG needs to be changed.

I don't understand how anyone can keep a straight face and say that BoG is balanced against non-necro deep elves.

Deep elves are basically unplayable for most classes and BoG is one of the reasons. Konge is dead on when he says this is not a wimp to paladins - when was the last time you saw a delf merc or rogue? Hell Dschijiran was one of the last ones I've seen.

It's been said before, but deep elves in general need a careful look to see how some of their weakness can be tweaked away from how devastating they currently are.

Why don't you play a deep-elf merc or rogue or whatever before you just make a knee-jerk response in regards to bolt of homosexuality.

I think it is plain and simple that there are talentless players that play the race and it reflects poorly on the race.

I think I'll roll another deep-elf before long because I'm not convinced that the race is completely terrible.

Wow, where'd the attitude come from? I have played a deep elf rogue, and abandoned hiim after a few encounters with cold iron and BoG. Don't know what I was thinking. Konge also played one for a while and I believe had the same experience.
