To limit the huge power this spell puts over the charmed victim, it should be reasonable that the following commands are unable to be used by the charmer, as it is not reasonable that adoring someone would result in you allowing them to commit any malicious acts against you. Remove, remove all, get, take, drop, drop all.

Also, any ordering of another NPC to kill the pc (by the master) should result in the breaking of the charm as it is evidently clear that the person with the charm is trying to commit a malicious act against the victim and under normal circumstances *would* break the charm link between master and victim.

The victim should also get a separate willpower check every time a new order is issued to break free of the charm. Sort of how a certain <adhesive medical strip> of <adhesive medical strip> works on the victim.

I've pushed to see the charm command leave the victim only able to use say, emote, pemote, sayto.

I asked you this already but I think a completely awesome use of charm person would be to charm another sorcerer and have that sorcerer cast final strike.

On one side the camp, we have people who believe charm person is a spell that's meant to involve a fair amount of RP consideration wherein the charmer still has to actually "convince" the charmee to do unusual things (but with added potency due to being his best buddy now), and also be -incapable- of making them do other things if it's far enough out of bounds for their character.

On the other side, we have people that say charm is a total control spell that turns people into your loving puppet. And so no real justification is necessary for any action.

Can we have Imm confirmation on what exactly it is, since the helpfile is worthless?

This should be the case.

All five of these logs involve roleplay using the charm person spell - you can find more by searching for 'charm' on our unofficial logs website, I tag all of my posts that involve charming with the word charm in order to facilitate its wimping for days like today.

Does the charmer do too much in the above logs? Does the charmee not do enough to fight it? Is it acceptable to quaff word? (No, lolth was punished for it). Is it acceptable to ask for a summon out? How about if the person who charmed you told you to 'resist summons'? Is it acceptable to quaff cancellation? What about blatant refusal?

I am not sure where I go on this issue, but I think that whatever it does it should have the same affect on pcs that it does on npcs, because I love the realism value of that which we maintain here, where newbies cannot tell if they are talking to a NPC or a player.

You can't summon charmed NPCs, I would think you can't summon charmed PCs?

I dont endorse changing charm person.

Get more willpower if you're that concerned.

I wonder if you would support permanently dying if your character dies.
