So who is competing this weekend, I know I likely won't be. :(

Not me. I despise this hero-obtainment system.

Why?

I want to know why I'm wasting my time if others agree. If that is the case we'll just cancel it. If you're just being a smartass, well, stop. These things are a lot of work. I would enjoy it if more people took it seriously. I've tried to make things as fair as possible. I've got plenty of other [REDACTED] I can do.

I will probably compete, it all depends on whether I can get a ticket for a concert on saturday.

The first competition was fun. Then came Emet/Aldric. Some of us can't afford to spend 48 hours on a computer game.

Please elaborate. What of him? He's online almost all the time?

I honestly want to understand, as I have not yet realized how the hero tournament is scheduled and what is required for one to become a Hero.

For example, what is it about logging for 48 hours that gives someone an edge over someone else?

Thanks in advance

Additionally, the above seems to be a constant state in SK. In my few brief conversations I've had with any imm, it seems as though there is a large amount of people that want the immortals to plan events and take an active part in the game, and when the immortals do so, there is an equally large amount of people that don't like the events and whine.

This leads many of our imm-staff to suffer from burnout and lose all desire to "meddle" with the affairs of us mortals, since we're such a thankless bunch anyway.

While, from an RP perspective, a character should realize that if a God decides something his own mortal word is meaningless, from an OOC perspective perhaps we should also realize that an Immortal is akin to a Game Master in your traditional table top game. Your game master will never ask you beforehand what kind of story you want to play, they will plan one and throw it at you and you're expected to cope.

It isn't much different here you know... so, perhaps some constructive comments of what you do not like in the current installment of an event might have better results?

Just a thought.

I think he's trying to say that people with no life can afford to waste theirs getting better at (non)video games since they're not busy kissing girls on the mouth.

Now, this is another common concept that lies unchanged ever since I rolled my first character here. Back in 2002 that is.

Okay, so... why?

Why do you care? How do you know if a said player is getting any, or not? And even so, even if they -are- wasting their time there, what's the big deal?

They're not wasting your time, right? In any multiplayer game, the best players are usually the ones that devote insane amounts of time in it. Why should SK be any different?

Hey, Jimbo is the one that said it, not me. I don't have any problems with people playing a game a bit more than what might be healthy.

To add to the topic, I watched one Hero Tournament for the Priests and I've had 0 desire to join or even watch any of them afterward. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy those sorts of events where you're trying to prove yourself better, but not I.

From my perspective, that's a perfectly acceptable reason not to participate. And it also happens to be my reason. RP-wise, I wouldn't be interested to "compete" to prove I'm better. I like the fact that these events exist however for the people that enjoy taking part in them.
