Post subject: | New Idea about Enchanting |
What about having items like staves that increase your chance of landing a certain enchant on a piece of armor or weapon? These items could have charges or could just be used once. They could be buyable. It would just provide a bonus to a certain enchant but it would not be 100%. Thoughts, ideas? |

Just another item 90% of the pbase would never see because of hoarding. |

I vote that we do nothing with enchant. |

Your most recent character (a griffon at that, fewest EQ slots in the game) also spam-died... probably because he never enchanted his armor. |

I actually did enchant my armor. I just didn't put very much effort into it because I was never high enough level to take great advantage of the very limited number of slots I had access to. It always seemed to end up me dying if I had them or not. That's more to do with how I wanted the character to be than any desire to really own face. I will admittedly never play a character that will win PKs while I am an IMM. Its just too likely that I'd be accused of something. I'd rather be the punching bag for all you folks. It can only last so long, though. My vote for doing nothing with enchant is because it is simply not broken. It isn't fantastic, yes. I'd rather see Dulrik working on features that add new things to the game. If that includes a trade system that means wide revamping of enchantment...yay. I just don't know if that is realistically something to put my support behind. I've got other things I think would be more fun before this. |

Then we don't see eye to eye on a very important issue: You think that adding new things into the game is better, while I think that ironing out serious problems with what's already implemented is a much better use of time. New things, like tradeskills, might get new players in and make old players want to give it another shot. But neither of them are going to stay for long unless there's a firm backbone behind all of those things, and when it comes down to it, one of the core pillars of PvP is purely luck and time-based. I quit WoW because Blizzard clearly wanted their players to spend as much time doing simple tasks as possible in order to participate in high-end PvP and PvE, and given their payment options, this both makes sense from a business standpoint and makes me want to puke. I believe that SK has the ability to grow beyond that, and start to reward players with skill and tactical minds more than players who spent overwhelming amounts of time enchanting their EQ. Right now one of the biggest drawbacks to SK is the amount of dead-time required to re-equip a character, even at GM, should s/he be junk-looted. It hurts far more than death, and it's just sad to see good players leave the game because enchanting takes so much time. |

I'm still slavering for that grand idea about altering CRS and kingdom warfare Lei Kung and Cannibal laid out like two years ago. [REDACTED] that system was sexy. |

I only object because of the long list of required changes already on the books, that something like this really doesn't seem like a good use of Dulrik's limited time. If he wanted to change enchantment, I think he'd have done it by now. I think its one of the myriad of items on a gigantic laundry list that really doesn't rank as high as other needed changes. This specific enchant idea does not really ride well. Others have been thought out better. I just don't support any of them till other issues can be addressed. |
