I've played Xonin for 200 hours now and still haven't seen a knight online...ever.

I've been given the idea to RP a knighting by divine power or whatever you want to call it.

I'm the High Follower of Dulrik, so the suggestion was to RP a vision or something. Any ideas?

Playing a paladin is hard - why make it harder by inviting the court of public opinion into your decision making process for the choices your char has to make? I sympathize with your situation but suggest you just make a decision you're happy with and just play it out. I guarantee you whichever way you go with it, your char's IC enemies who find out will twist it to try to get under your skin, so your best option is to make sure you personally enjoy what you're doing and to keep yourself from becoming emotionally invested in the character (I don't know you so I don't know if you're the type who does or not, but I'd highly recommend it for any paladin).

Have Hagrel do it as some official power of his position?

A good idea would be to pray/private message and use the staff for their immortal powers in-game.

Combination "no, don't knight yourself" and "get an immortal." Part of being a Knight is the trial of being a squire. I think it cheapens the role play to just decide that you're past it on your own.

200 hours is a lot of time to go without full knighthood, but at the same time you're talking about comparing a Red Delicious to a McIntosh. There's no actual mechanical value to being fully Knighted. Why haven't you petitioned the staff until now?

I know it's a drag, but as I mentioned earlier, you're not the only person to ever have encountered this.

I wasn't really expecting a yes, as I don't really want to do it myself.

K, thanks. I was hoping to get an imm to RP the embodiment of a past knight hero or something. be like, I've watched you in your journey, blah blah, i hereby knight you. done.

Eh...I suppose its possible. I'll keep it in mind as an option.

I have, I've talked with Achernar using the pray function and he directed me to Marfik. Marfik says he's up for it, but it seems we're never on at the same time.

And I know, but plenty of RP value. I hate it when a character says something along the lines of "Thank you, brave knight." It sux. I want to be able to say "You're welcome." instead of having to be like, "I am but a squire, but you're welcome."

Any paladin/hellion I roll will be badass enough to knight himself and kill anyone who disagrees (in a duel, of course).

And then his paladin/hellion will go home to his supermodel horse.

Knighthood does not exist in the mechanics of the game, but blemish does. Just as I used to tarnish 'new' Talons, so too could a high follower invest blemished 'squires,' but I've never heard of that happening.

Most of the knight stuff is simply made up. Why wait for someone else to make up your story? Just make up your own, and if needed, you can use one of my fabulous ideas:

- Your patron knight died to the hands of the insipid drow, and you gained knighthood when you took up his sword and slew his assailants in the name of honor.
- Your father was a knight (always a good one, but I'm sure it has been done to death.) So, just spice it up. Papa slew the Dark Prince sent to besiege a defenseless town fallen from grace, since there were weak and sinless people therein. The Gods gifted you in the form of a 9-year old child to your Knight Father, and over the course of many months, he and his loyal butler, Cube, raised you to be a wondrous credit to your celestial heritage. Now you are the hero, on a quest to find a city worth saving.
- You are not a knight, but instead, a glorious samurai warrior (I have to admit, that's not my idea.)
- Seago (or some other recently-deleted lightie) was your patron, and left the realms before your ceremonious débutante ball could be held.
- Your position as future king of a small, outlying nation gave you the power to expel your superior paladin knight when you realized your hometown had succumbed to a terrible curse of undeath, and your first act as a knight was the systematic purging of all that evil had claimed. Since he refused to assist you, you got rid of him. Your God doesn't need pansies. You left nothing behind, not even regrets.
- Knighthood is dead. You are vengeance. You are the night. Let's get dangerous.

I say yes, some times roleplay has to step down over in-game convenience. If you can get an immortal to help you, do so by all means.
