Can someone please explain to me why a barbarian is not granted a single method of ranged attack, aside from heaving a frickin' boulder at things?

I thought they got sling.

They do indeed own with slings.

Also, what are you trying to do with the ranged attack? They don't deserve to have an effective cross-room ranged attack, but if all you're trying to do is draw NPCs, they can do that just fine with bows or anything else. You just miss.

It would be hilarious if Barbarians could learn to throw axes and javelins like barbarians (with a lowercase b)!

Or if they could throw instantly-created weapons like NPCs can. :/

I'm sure sling is nice and all, but I was thinking more along the lines of crossbow. All I want to do is draw NPCs. I understand 4 attacks with a good crossbow, enchanted, with some bad-ass bolts, might be a bit overpowered but I can't think of a single good RP reason why they can't. Bow might be a bit much. It's not like they have skirmish or rapid shot and I wouldn't suggest they do. I just think it would make sense. They get every other weapon.
