This only makes sense to me for scouts. Walking through the woods to some place and you're in the second row behind your pet, have you ever kept walking after your pet started fighting some aggro NPC and didn't realize it because you were leveling at the mind-numbing pace? Now, there is call pet. Since the pet is in your group, you can communicate with it mentally by way of gtells. Call pet would send a "Come here, boy." call mentally, and the extremely well-trained pet would use the tracking skill to try and find his way to you. Some animals shouldn't be able to know how to track, like a bird pet or something of the sort, but lions, panthers, and other predatory land animals should. Once the call is made, the pet will move at the pace it was going when you lost it, using the tracking skill in each room until it finds you...or not. You won't know when or if it can't find you. You could even use this skill to meet your pet halfway if you go backwards on the exact path you took. |

People are going to tell you to quaff word of recall, but you have a good point. Personally, I think the easier option is the most attractive: add a word of recall herb to the game for scouts to gather. |

So basically, you want a skill to replicate summon with one, static target: the scout's pet. Until the logout-and-lose-your-pet feature is revised, why not give this to everyone, make it usable out of combat, and add a forced lag comparable to what you get from the save command? |

I thought of this...but only scouts...at least in my mind...have the ability to work with animals at the level of teaching it what it's master's footprints look like and what not. |

Hmm. Only one question, then: What level is your scout? |

I think the real question is how intelligent is the pet. |
