So, basically the way the fletch ability works is you have to be in a forest. Then you can only fletch diamond arrows or such.

I propose a bit of a change to fletch and perhaps make it utilize more than forests. Why not make ti so a scout can craft iron, cold iron or even adamantite arrows in caves and such? As it stands now, the only way to obtain these is via vendors, in which in the economy code when arrows get up to a gold -each- and you need about 150 of them, this gets very, very expensive, very quickly. Arrows are, for the most part rather cheaply and easily made and this would give the scout a bit more leeway to exploit racial weaknesses or such.

Thoughts, ideas?

Edit: Just to add, iron arrows could be apprentice. Cold-iron mentor / master and adamantite GM?

And of course, have it work like the fletch command. Fletch type of arrow, material of arrow, size. I don't think it'd be too difficult to code.

fletch barbed iron. etc. fletch battle adamantite. etc.

Funny how things change in a few years, but eh. I disagree, based solely upon the fact that I can't see fletching making any real-world sense, at least not the way I imagine it. I mean, from what I gathered, fletching in SK is the process of taking a branch, carving it into the shaft, attaching the head, and then the feather. I might be wrong, and I probably am, but if that is what's happening, how would one do so with a piece of iron they found on the ground? I could see them having a piece of cold iron forged and attached to an existing shaft, but where would they get the wood from?

Note: About 70% of what I said above is probably incorrect, in which case, I agree with the idea completely.

I'm pretty sure your right anyway.. considering on success you whittle it and on failure you accidently snap it.
What I want to know is where scouts find hundreds and hundreds of diamonds just laying around in the forest.

I do however, like this idea. It would add at least a little more dimension to the class and/or ranged combat. Perhaps even ways to add other effects to the arrows besides spells scouts don't have? Flaming arrows.. exploding arrows.. whatever. Though that might be a bit over the top.

I was thinking of posting that as well, but I figured that'd be over the top. If scouts got different material arrows and an ability to altar that arrows property, that'd be too buff. It'd really hurt warlocks, hell anything really. This is just a small tweak that I don't feel would overpower the class, and as said, give more dimension to them.

More like a weak magic missile spell that can be resisted easily.


New materials to arrow is a good idea, adding things like effects to arrows by using herbs already like poison would also be interesting.

You can already buy different material bolts and arrows I do not see why scouts could make them as well, since they can already find diamonds.

I like the idea of making herbs able to be crushed into a powder/salve that could be tipped on the arrows, like the sleep herb and others, that would be pretty awesome
