How well do you think the note boards facilitate communication on Pyrathia?
and 1 more question about fact:
How often do you use the noteboard?

My characters are generally illiterate. I don't use the noteboards.

I looked at them more when I was first playing, but it didn't seem like anyone used them much. Otherwise, I would have a literate sprite and reading them.

I remember all the begging and pleeding with Dulrik to create the astral boards - back in the day if you wanted news about Taslamar, you had to goto Taslamar. The rallying cry was "Oh! It will promote RP interkingdom" and "It will make it possible to RP with people on different time schedules". I think the only thing that has been garnered from astral boards is using the astral watchers to make sure people get outlawed for crimes.

I think people would use them more if they didn't constantly have to sift through 100 old and immaterial posts to get to what they want.

I agree with Evena. I look at the astral board every time I log on, however I have to sit ther and hit enter four or five times before I get to notes that were created in my characters lifetime. There are also different astral boards in different places that are very limited. FOr example, in Teron there are at least three different astral boards. In Nerina I know of at least two.

Thats why you just spam "note read" at a note board. It only shows unread posts.

By unread, the game means posts with a greater number than the last one you read.

So type note read x, x being the most recent post, and note read will work like you want it to.

It still won't be able to let you skim past the 6 translated copies of the same message though.

The noteboards are peerless if you need to publish something for the record. That can be important for some plots, and sometimes critically so. (I had great fun with a note denouncing a royal figure, that somehow got lost before being posted....) The noteboards are not useful in replacing tells, and the pile of unnecessary notes is why they are read so rarely.

I'm not fond of astal noteboards, and particularly the practice of writing notices in multiple translations. Good notes connect to events, and very few events really span Pyrathia. If you really have a notice worth posting everywhere, go do it. If it's not worth the effort, it's not worth the spam.

As Stocaryn, I littered the entire map with notices (written in the appropriate languages for each city) about Slayne with Calieach once. That was hysterical, and caused quite a sitr in the MC, as they had no idea who did it.
