Here's a list of times when different classes get the dodge skill.

Amateur- Swashbuckler, Scout, Rogue, Sorceror.

Novice- Bard, Warlock

Initiate- Necro

Apprentice- Mercenary, Shaman.

Journeyman- Barbarian

Expert- Hellion, Paladin

Never- Priest

So, here are some dumb questions.

Why would sorcerors learn dodge at amateur, before mercenaries, barbarians, paladins, hellions, and pretty much everyone?

Why would the front row, heavy armor classes learn this ability only after everyone else has learned it? Wouldn't learning to dodge be much, much more important to a paladin than a sorceror?

Why don't priests get dodge? Yes, they get shield block, but should they really be penalized for this?

-

This whole table seems upside-down, to me, with the exception of the swash-rogue-scout-bard placement.

(I'd like everyone to make a note, for future reference, that I currently play a sorceror, despite asking (dumbly) why they get this skill so early. Please make use of this note, the next time your mouse is lingering over the 'submit' key, about to complain that I'm asking to be "buffed" when I suggest that the dragon polymorph should get infravision.)

((*Proceeds to win the game with infravision*))

Barbarians, and Paladins initially never had the dodge skill. Dulrik just added them where he felt like adding them for those classes.

Personally I don't think that necromancers and sorcerers should get dodge, but I don't think there's some profound answer as to why they get it earlier than others.

I would -gladly- give up shield block in priests for dodge.

I think the game balances fine if everyone *eventually* gets dodge. It's worthless in low dex casters, and people who don't master dodge, anyway.

The sequence of who learns it when is kind of confusing, though, if pedantic.

Priests should just get dodge and shield block. Remember in old school D&D, when priests- especially the buffed variety- used to have okay damage and decent survivability?

This is not true. I am not going to say why though.

Thanks. You're, like, a big fountain of helpfulness.

It's like you belong to some secret society, now, of people-who-know-why-ardith-think's-I'm-wrong. How enigmatic, how glamorous, this society of one person.

I'm glad that there's this division, though. If there wasn't an outside, what would be the point of an inside? The need for this kind of behavior arises a lot, over the course of history. Just because Bush couldn't *show* us the proof for WMD in Iraq, doesn't mean it wasn't there. He just had a reason to not show us.

More importantly, he still had a reason to show us why he had a reason to not show us, one that totally served a purpose other than farming public opinion.

Pay no attention to the Ardith behind the curtains.

So, which part is untrue?

lol, priests are already way too buff as it is, without getting more survivability. They shouldn't be getting hit to begin with.

Then why do some of them get heavy armor?

How are dodge and heavy armor related? At all? This is why they get shield block.

This isn't D&D, this is Shattered Kingdoms. You want D&D go find some buddies and go play it.
