And I'll point out that the whopping two times I used seance, I said multiple things to the ghost, and all they did was float off somewhere else.

It's my opinion that because Seance seems to be meant as an RP-only spell and not meant for tactical advantages in PvP that it should not be used without the targets' consent. People right now in the game are being voodoo'd, then seanced so that they cannot be resurrected while the people who had them voodoo'd go and grab their corpse. This seems like a complete misuse of the spell that is also improper because the spell itself has no save and cannot be prevented. Up until this point I do not believe that the IMMs were aware of its use in this way, and I would love to see it changed. Discuss. |

lol, Edoras, when did you become such a crybaby? Why would seancing a spirit require consent? And why would seance be an RP-only spell, when exorcism is nothing but a griefing spell to get rid of ghosts after PK? |

For one, exorcism requires the ghost to be in the room, and it also doesn't prevent the character from getting resurrected. Ghosts are often used to scout out enemy formations and positions too, so it's sensible. Seance can be used on anyone who is dead in order to prevent resurrection, regardless of their location. It's completely unpreventable and can be abused, as it is in fact currently being abused by you. |

I say no it doesn't need players consent for the reason to keep the ghost around to disable you from coming back with super haxor wipe party to kill me, so using it to my own gain to maintain a decent survivability seems pretty fair to me. Now keeping it up for like an ic day or so would be bad. |

Keeping a ghost locked out of the river and therefore preventing them from resurection should be a cursable offense. |

This thread is similar to the "Sorcerers and I Win" that Syn posted earlier. The problem is not seance. The problem is voodoo. In any other situation, your loot is forfeit because the attacker is in the same room as the victim. Voodoo won't suddenly become more balanced or fair if seance gets nerfed. Fix the problem - not the symptom. |

This has come up before. It's only abuse if you don't RP with the ghost you seance and are using it to grief the player for a prolonged period. |
