Please big D can we get this fixed? It shouldnt take 200 attempts at taming something before it finally works, it's annoying, stupid, and very spammy.

Thanks.

You are right, you shouldn't just be able to spam it so easily until it works. The skill chance is supposed to have more meaning. The part that has always been missing is some lag after using the command so that there is that small penalty for failure.

When I fail to convince someone that I'm their best friend via charm they try to murder me.

Maybe tame could work like it did for that effeminate guy who thought that bears were just being "bad" bears and needed a firm talking to?

There is already code in there that is supposed to make an animal attack you if you fail really badly. Has anyone ever seen it happen though? The numbers may need tweaking if it is currently impossible to fail that badly.

I saw a scout get attacked while trying to tame a non hostile animal, was a couple days ago.

I have seen it, only occurs if you're really unlucky or only like fair at the skill. If you're going to add a lag feature to it, would you also be increasing the chance of success? As it stands it seems nightmarish to try to tame anything worth taming if it takes 3 or 4 times as long.

I dont think adding a lag to it will help anything, but possibly get more scouts killed.

If you're going to place a lag onto it, at least make the chances of success far greater. Like taking a handful times max for it to work successfully if it's mastered.

Also if you could re-evaluate the level that you need to be for some tames. Things like in the lost jungle are no match at like champ 2-3 but require GM to tame. It becomes a real pain in the rear trying to tame them. Even then as it is, sometimes you have a chance it's just so small you don't know if you can or not. I know the creatures are strong there..But having to have another class GM is a bad thing. Necros already have to Gm to reach full power.

This is why you shouldn't ever bring up gameplay issues you are concerned about. It always leads to the nerfing of something. This why we can't wear adamantite belts on all classes anymore, etc. etc. etc.

Dulrik, I'm not opposed to making taming more dangerous, but could you please do something about making -less- tedious and not -more- tedious? Nobody wants to spend an hour trying to tame a NPC that they have tamed in the past.
